I am using very similar hardware on my home built kit. Unforturnately the shurflo pumps are close to $90 now, including shipping ($11 shipping fee for a single pump) for the 100 psi pump. I chose to go with aeroquip -3 lines for my pressure lines which is much more expensive, but that was my personal preference. Many other lower cost lines are available.


I'm still experimenting with the actual configuration so I do not have a "fixed" setup at this time.

I use a pressure accumulator so the pump does not need to cycle as often and a simple pressure switch trigger for the solenoid. I have an idiot light wired to the solenoid side of the pressure switch so I can see when the pressure switch closes. I also hooked a push button in parallel with the pressure switch so I can manually spray at any pressure for experimental purposes.

Is there really anything different between the various 8000-series shurflo pumps, other than the pressure switch? By cranking down the set screw and using an external regulator, I've had my 8009-543-236 well over 100psi on the bench. My setup is very similar to Rifts' but with an FPR and the shurflo's pressure switch locked down.

The amount of flow, but the smallest one flows 1 gpm (3785 cc/min), which is way more than you'll ever use.

I think there are two differences on the pumps. As you mention I think one difference is the factory setting on the pressure switch shut off. The second I understand is that Shurflo has different pump head assemblies with different seal/diaphram materials so users can select the ideal pump materials for the fluids they are using.

I got the 8000-543-238 pump which has viton seals and santoprene diapharm. That appears to be the normal over the counter configuration, but one of the guys on one of the Buick GN boards mentioned he had called Shurflo and was told he could order different pump heads/seal materials. I have not personally confirmed that info though.

They definitely offer different seal materials, and other various configurations, but I'm more concerned that perhaps running my 236 pump at higher pressure may reduce the reliability of the diaphram.

Optimistically I'll assume that by listing "Pressures up to 150 PSI (10.3 bar) " as a general feature, it means all their pumps can handle that and they only vary the switch (even though that's probably not what it means) :)

Another source for the pump, just a couple dollars cheaper. They also have the 8030-813-239, 150psi pump
