Sounds good, are you going to host, code, etc? If you need any help with graphics, I'm not the best, but I do good work.

I already have AKSOC logo's ready to be put on something.

I also do some graphic work with photoshop. I have VB3.0.3 and much experience setting up. Also have a server available with a static IP.

One thing I think would be cool is a java realtime chatroom.

I like the idea of a chatroom!

Are we thinking all Subaru, or everything? Hmm, how about AWD only!!

Also, what do you all think about annual club dues and the many uses for that money?

An organized car club with dues changes the outlook for most people. You are now pressured to show up for meets and obligated to do things for the club. There's a core group of people that show up for meets but it seems to change every year. Cars get traded and/or sold. People get married and/or have kids. Some people just get tired of the whole subie thing.

Yeah, we talked about doing the organized thing, but decided against it for some of the reasons Kapa mentioned.

I agree with Kapa (even though I've only been around you guys since spring). We have a really good thing going as it is ("KISS": Keep It Simple, Stupid!), and I think that the more money gets involved, the less friendly things become. Right now it's just about helping eachother out, and having some friends at the racetrack, and having cool carshows to scare Euro owners. If somebody wants to make a big fanpage, I'm all for it...hell, I can photochop some stuff and even do *very* simple HTML, but I see no need for a "Team Alaska" webpage, when there's already AKMS, and we have our own Subie-centric message board.

I like how something gets mentioned and money/dues are automaticly assumed. Was just an idea to throw all of our info into one place, instead of have to remember, have people also remind people of things. Just an example, since I didnt post about a Import Day this week, not many knew, lol. Oh well, just an idea, no big loss.

Jordy, someone mentioned dues so we were responding to him. We were not insinuating that you would charge dues for people to get to the website.

I would say just do the website, if you build it, they will come. :) AKMS is a little immature for me, which is exactly why I created the AKeuro site. I think the benefits of having a calendar and gallery and such just for the guys here would be cool. I think this topic got a little off the original intent, but I say go for it Jordy, I know I will sign up! :)

It shouldn't be a club. It should be a cult. We should all ride together in a custom paint job. Do things for the community. race at the track together. oO!

Yeah, the response was for the dues thing and organized membership. We are not giving a thumbs down for the another subie board or car board but there's already akmotorsports. That board was cool when it started out but it has gotten more hostile and unfriendly.

I believe one of the biggest reasons AKMS went down hill is because they didn't start out with a good set of forum rules or direction.

Just remember you can't please everybody and you're going to need help as you grow.

Eventually, it will take money to sustain and survive. Don't say never to dues, memberships, sponsors, etc.... Membership does have its privileges but there has to be some benefit to those who contribute.
