Hello everyone.
I have a 02 wrx with 300whp setup with sr40 and bunch of stuff. running at 1.3bar. After that I installed ZEX wet nitrous kit. it had 55,65,75 shot nozzles. I installed 65 one. Total I used nos maybe like 15 runs. not more. 7-8 sec each run (used it on 2-3-4 gears only.)
It worked fine. Boost jumped to 1.6 sometimes when using nos.
A few days ago I took my engine out to replace it with 2.5 shortblock with forged internals. And I am reusing heads. just porting it.
After taking the heads of i noticed strange things. the head internals bent a little. it is just a litle, 0.2mm. Not a big deal huh? But all the exaust valves were not in place. messed up. We had to rework all the valve seats and valves. adjust them and basiclly fix heads. And this is after 6k miles driving this car!!!!!
Now when we will take the new engine and run it I would like to ask you a queston. What caused this? Because I dont want this to happen again! Some say it was NOS. but 65 shot for 6-7 sec 15 times it not a big deal huh??!! Or it was it? and I need to go down to 55? You see I know people runing 150 shot of NOS on their stock STI and they do burn pistons, break rods, BUT I NEVER HEARD ABOUT THE HEAD DAMAGE. so maybe it was not nitrous that caused this?
Please give me any sugjestions on what i dont need to do to mess up my heads again and what NOS shot i need to use now on.
Maybe it is safer to swich to direct port system? But still I think that 65-75shot levels and 4cyl engine doesnt make big of a difference direct port or not? or I am mistaken?
