Has anybody seen this radio in the states? I ran across it "window shopping" in the I-Club links. www.grahamgoode.com/subaru/products/keyring.htm#stereo (http://www.grahamgoode.com/subaru/products/keyring.htm#stereo)
It looks very similar to a Pioneer system that is out now. Anybody have any information before I start bugging the guys at GGR? Thanks.

IMHO Don't get any Sony head unit. While my experience has not been especially good or bad with one in my Z, I think you'll find most of those people who "know" car audio think Sony stuff blows. :-( As a major Sony fan (and share holder I might add ;-), I was dissapointed when the consensus of car audio people became clear to me- "Buy anything BUT a Sony if you can."
Of course, things may have changed since I was paying more attention about 12-18 months ago. Regardless of it being a good, Subaru specific application or not, I'd definately ask around before dropping any $$$.
Just my $0.02- Scott
Bah, Sony's stuff is good. Its just that there is better. I had a Sony HU in my Jeep and it was nice, it looked good and the controls were well placed. But the pre-amp blew out somehow. I currently have a Pioneer DEH-P6000, and I think, even though its only one DIN, its a GREAT HU. Whatever you do don't buy Aiwa.

I've tried a number of brands over the last six years (Alpine, Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer).
My current HU is an Eclipse 5443; it is a cut above everything else that I've owned. I'll be sticking with Eclipse from now on.
mlomker, how much was that Eclipse? I looked at them, but I felt the Pioneer had better features for the price. I paid $279 for mine.

I found that at the sony factory outlet for @$350 if memory serves me. Also there are alot of good head units out there. I have been through quite a few brands over time and am currently running the Sony ES cdx-c90 replacing the cdx-c910. All I can say is WOW they some how found a way to improve on an already awesome headunit. Not everyone wants to spend that much on a radio(No I didn't pay MSRP but $700 installed). Eclipse makes a great head unit with it's best feature is ESN as well as they sound very good. Alpine is another and Kenwood can be great for the money. Heck if you want a real bargain get a newer coustic head unit with 3-5v preouts and a DIGITAL output(I am running digital to my DSP adn the noise floor is nill no whine no nothing) for @$300(check www.soundcity.com). (http://www.soundcity.com).) Just be sure to do some research and one piece of advice it is better to spend the money once on a great head unit with plenty of features than to keep upgrading every so often with lower quality ones.

(and it all comes down to how much you want ot spend)

Thanks everybody for the feedback. I'm not a fan of cassettes, I just thought it was interesting that Sony was offering a combined unit with CD & all. I'd probably stick to a separate unit. I had a nice Clarion CD player in my '91 Civic Si. Not a bad setup for $300 installed. I ran Polk db602's (I think - I've forgotten since I sold the car!) in the front and stock speakers in the back. I don't know that I want to spend a lot on the sound system. I had thought about adding a CD changer via RF modulator, but for the money I'd rather sink it into a fund for tires, shocks, wheels, and so on. Thanks again! http://208.9.184.110/NonCGI/biggrin.gif
