projector headlamps that appear on Ebay for the '02/'03 Impreza? Being a cheap bugger, I'm going for the look, don't want the expense of the real deal, but also don't want to sacrifice the pretty reasonable beam pattern of the stock units.

The ebay headlights do not have projector light elements -- just look at them, they don't have the little "opaque glass pool ball" in either element. The ebay lights are well documented as being major suck. You'd best stay away from these, they are dramatically worse than stock.

I actually just found the THREAD (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=609978&highlight=ebay+projector) on them (should have looked harder in the first place I guess)...I'll stick with the stock until I either have time to paint them (low budget) or get the real deal. Although I'm all for the DIY element, it doesn't seem reasonable to buy them, only to put in a lot of extra time and money to make them workable.

They are junk, and are simple reflectors as stated and not projectors. A definite no-go for street use in their as-supplied form.
