If I take a set of Non hid jdm projector.. So RHD and put in hid bulbs and ballasts would they make a nice lighting combination? I know I would have to aim them so I don't blind, but do HID bulbs work well in non hid headlights?

yes, they work in non HID headlights

No, they do not work well, but they do work. Halogen enclosures, including halogen projectors, are not optimized for the light output of a HID system, so beam pattern is not ideal and glare is increased. Having projectors of any type will help reduce the glare, but only an enclosure intended for HID will result in the correct beam pattern and acceptable levels of glare.

No, they don't work well in non-HID headlights, because for proper "shaping" of the light output, the optics of the headlight (either reflector or projector) need to be designed for the geometry of the light source. Add on the RHD design and it will be pretty tough to get decent lighting.

Anybody have personal experience with this? Or any pics maybe?

Check www.hidforum.com, I think they have a forum about HID in halogen housings. Should have tonnes of pics and stuff.

May also want to check with mattjk on here. He has HIDs in his STI Projector headlights. There are also pics somewhere on the forum...

he is putting the HID's in JDM projectors.

I installed HID's on a friend's projectors last night. Geez, I never realized how much they helped until now. Looks like I'm going to have to join the HID bandwagon myself soon.

Were your friends projectors JDM Or EDM? If JDM, did you use an aftermarket HID kit? If so did you need to aim them, or have bad glare?

they were JDM.

Its not really "glare" that you get from RHD lights, its just that they have a different output pattern.

JDM's shine like this
\____ \_____

Where EDM's shine like this
____/_____/

so it doesn't really matter if you have HID's or not, you are still blinding oncoming traffic. It's just that you realize it more with the HID's because of the output.

Can't you effectivly aim the the lights some what so it's not so intense into oncoming traffic?

not really.

you can, however, open up the headlights and file down the "reflector" (I forgot what it was called) to correct the beam pattern.

Yes, I know, but they are the non-HID projectors, meaning they are not optimized for HID bulbs. This means that, even beyond the fact that they are JDM, they will not have an optimal beam pattern.
