View Full Version : UTEC Revision Summary
jblaine 09-09-2004, 02:45 PM I'd like to start a thread (in fact I HAVE!) that enumerates all of the different UTEC board revisions and their differences.
Any information would be great. I have nothing to start with.
Post away -- please stay on topic and don't hypothesize.
RESULTS: See Pete@TurboXS's post a few posts down :)
zaxrex 09-09-2004, 02:55 PM 1-4 have dip switches to mess with for loading firmware. 5&6 + have a dial.
x99percent 09-09-2004, 03:03 PM Rev 4 - works on 2002 WRX, 8 dip switches
Rev 5 - works on 2002-2003 WRX, 2 switches (FC disable, Reflash)
Changes were made to the UTEC for the new fuel tank pressure sensor and polarity changes of some other sensors.
Rev 6 - works on 2002-2004 (and 2005?) WRX, 2 switches (FC disable, Reflash)
I think there is a Revision 6b as well..
I don't know anything about the earlier versions.
jblaine 09-09-2004, 03:06 PM Excellent -- keep the details coming everyone.
eastcoastbumps 09-10-2004, 02:09 AM Is the Rev6 the only one that will run a JDM ecu and not throw an injector CEL?
eastcoastbumps 09-10-2004, 02:10 AM Jblaine, why dont you edit your first post to include all the good info that piles up in this thread? It will make it a lot easier for the rest of us. :)

jblaine 09-11-2004, 08:47 AM Cool -- just thought it would be good to have all of the info in one spot. Thanks Pete!
jblaine 09-11-2004, 08:59 AM Pete - will you confirm x99percent's model year to revision restrictions?
TurboXS (Pete) 09-11-2004, 09:13 AM Pete - will you confirm x99percent's model year to revision restrictions?
They seem about right (which is why I quoted them in my post) but I'm not 100% sure. Nathan is probably the best guy to confirm them.
Pete has spoken.
You guys seems to have worked out the information already, I was just jumping on the bandwagon!

Hi Pete. I just received my USA STI UTEC and noticed 3 toggle switches. The manual refers to only 2 switches. Can you clarify for me what each of these 3 switches are? Is this a different/latest revision?
Thanks,
Abe
TurboXS (Pete) 12-05-2004, 06:38 AM The latest USA STi UTEC does have 3 toggle switches. There are two processors fitted to this board so the extra toggle switch allows you to reflash the second processor. We'll amend the manual with the additional information soon.

So which switches should be used for FCD & Flash (first processor)? 1st & 2nd, 2nd & 3rd, or 1st & 3rd? And which position should the switch (2nd processor) be in -- default position? Also, can you send me the ammended STI UTEC Manual (PDF) to silverraddo@yahoo.com when ready? Thanks.
Regards,
Abe
nmyeti 12-05-2004, 01:22 PM There is a supplement that should have been included in your UTEC box. I'll send one to you on Monday via email. If you don't hear from me shoot an email to Nathan@turboxs.com

nmyeti 07-28-2005, 11:05 AM Yes, the latest UTEC works for all US WRXs.
TheMadScientist 07-28-2005, 11:34 AM What is the second processor used for. Just the DBW revlimit restriction?
I only have one processor.:(

titsataki 07-29-2005, 11:45 AM What is the second processor used for. Just the DBW revlimit restriction?

When did the second processor got introduced in the STI UTEC. Is it still considered Revision 2 or Revision something else since it includes new hardware. Or Revision means software only?
Also I echo the question above what is(could be) the second processor used for? Is it like the solenoid for water/alky injection? Anything else?
Cheers
Nick
TypeC 10-02-2005, 12:13 PM Rev 4 - works on 2002 WRX, 8 dip switches
Rev 5 - works on 2002-2003 WRX, 2 switches (FC disable, Reflash)

Rev 6 - works on 2002-2004 (and 2005?) WRX, 2 switches (FC disable, Reflash)
I think there is a Revision 6b as well..
I don't know anything about the earlier versions.
So does that mean the revision 4 can't be reflashed? Are there any important revisions since then?
x99percent 10-02-2005, 02:26 PM So does that mean the revision 4 can't be reflashed? Are there any important revisions since then?Reflashing the software in the UTEC doesn't change the hardware of the UTEC.
The revision changes are changes to the hardware. These changes were made so that the UTEC could work with the latest changes Subaru made to the ECU and engine harness through the years.
You can run the latest 5.0 firmware on your revision 4 UTEC on a 2002 WRX.
xolosis 05-19-2006, 08:33 PM Sorry to dig up a old thread but I'm wondering if anyone can clarify what the 3 Toogle Switches are for the STi UTEC?
Tried doing some tests and found if you move the right toggle switch to the up position then connect to the UTEC is shows DBW Signal etc etc.
Basically which positions should the switches be if attemping to flash with firmware? Just curious as the manual doesn't state this...
MarylandEcstasy 06-02-2006, 07:11 PM Pmed you..MINE!
jblaine 06-03-2006, 01:15 PM
I have nothing for sale. This thread was to list the revision differences. I have never owned a UTEC, marylandecstasy.
xolosis 06-05-2006, 09:48 PM Pmed you..MINE!
Umm not sure who you PM'd but it wasn't me.
By the way the middle switch must be set to the up postion(flash) if uploading new firmware. I found this information by asking Turbo XS and the new firmware is not too far away I'm told?
