Will Subaru ever make an SPT intake for a WRX that will not void the original warranty?

Not likely.

Don't know about SPT but news of having STi products being sold through dealers with a 'warranty' is a possibility.... I think it's as long as the dealer installs the parts.

You need to do some reading.
INtakes are not recommended on WRX's to begin with, as they generally are known to cause problems
Second off, the stock intake flows MORE than enough air for any setup you could possibly have with the stock turbo. Even on a 300+whp setup, an intake will net you about a 5-7whp gain, and thats with a BIG turbo on a high (20+psi) boost map.

Yup. The STi parts are considered SPT stuff:

CHERRY HILL, N.J. , August 30, 2004 -- Subaru of America, Inc., the only car company that features Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard equipment on every vehicle in its product line , today announced the addition of new STI Performance Suspension Components to their Genuine Subaru Performance Tuning (SPT) Parts line-up and will now offer a new parts only limited warranty on select performance parts.

Okay, so it's not the useless intake you're looking for, but it is progress towards maybe someday installing a meaningful mod under warranty.

I also suspect the fine print is that it is the SPT parts themselves, not any components they damage. So hypothetically if an SPT intake caused a MAF to go, or an SPT suspension kit caused a wheel bearing to die, it isn't clear Subaru would cover those items. On the other hand, if the seals go in an SPT strut, then they'll replace the strut but the labor is on your nickel.

I don't know this is the case, just what I suspect.

The best intake in my opinion is the OEM one with a K&N panel filter and the resonator delete mod. Cheap and highly effective
