How much hp can the 05 stock motor and transmission handle? I finally got my engine management unit in and my next mods will be intercooler, nos, and headers, so basically i wanna take out ALMOST every bit of power from the stock turbo and what not...

Nitrous, Intercooler, Headers and the stock turbo??????

Forget the Nitrous, Forget the headers.

Get a bigger turbo and a turboback. Tune that toy, then worry about the headers and NOS.

and also, hondaslayer, wouldnt it make sense to get a FMIC done first before turbo or can the stock intercooler handle a turbo upgrade?

I'd do an upgraded intercooler at the same time as the bigger turbo.

and from what I've seen a header is basicly worth as much as a Turbo back. Just depends on what you want more.

from what I have heard the stock turbo will get you to about 350 - 400 bhp then needs to be upgraded.

I love these posts....
ems, intercooler, nos, and headers......that has got to take the cake when it comes to upgrade paths I've heard lately. sorry, has me LOL.

Stock tranny holds a hell of a lot of power, stock block...who knows yet....there are many 400+whp cars running around here doing alright.

You want to make power?
-engine mgmt sys (EMS) - that was a good start, hopefully you picked a good one....
-turbo back exhaust/ headers (if you so desire) / maybe a good short ram intake (not 100%necessary...depends on how much powwaaa you will make)
-good set of guages
-fuel pump
-injectors/rails/lines
-FMIC or upgraded TMIC
-clutch upgrade
-turbo upgrade
...jumping ahead here
-built engine
-then two of the biggest bottles you got

suspension upgrades...fall in anywhere above....they were first and foremost for me.

I would definitely stay away from nitrous until you at least max out your stock turbo. Nitrous is good for cheap power though. Might end up costing you some money in the end.

Yes i have a Dastek Unichip, and a SCI motorsports catback along with a HKS downpipe currently, with a SCI FMIC in the makes within a two-three weeks...i have gauges and i may just pick up a AEM SRI as well as i was told a CAI isnt really worth it...

should i stick with a Short ram and is AEM alright?

i think i may stay away from nos for now as well too

CAI needs tuning. More, colder air, = mo hp.

The way I see CAI's....they look cool with the piping in the fender and all yada yada, yea you might make a *couple* extra ponies when tuned for.
#1 PITA to clean/change the filter compared to a short ram
#2 The gains are minimal for the trade off in ease to clean/monitor/tune properly
The stock airbox etc is good for quite a bit of power too....somewhere in the realm of 400hp (prob. crankhp) gets thrown around here regularly as a max. it can handle efficiently.
I'd go with a shortram if you want an intake. Less chance to suck up water too, if you happen to find yourself swimming in your sti.
Just my .02....whatever it's worth.

i figure since i can tune for a CAI, and its only around 40 extra then i may go for it, i live down here in texas and my past cars all have had CAI so im not too concerned about hydrolock, thanks for the awesome input yall,

do you guys know if the AEM CAI will work fine if i tune my ecu after i install it? im just worried about it throwing a CEL
