Hello. I'm new to all this and relatively ignorant of car issues in general. However, I have a problem and am looking for some advice.
 My battery and emergency brake light came on a couple days ago. A day later the battery died. I have now replaced the battery and yet the lights are still on. Can anybody offer me any opinions as to what the problem might be?

Something is shorting out your battery. Maybe even your ebrake signal. check out the draw on your battery when the car is off.

Your alternator may not be charging. Connect a voltmeter across the battery terminals when the engine is running, it should read about 13.5-14.5 volts. If it reads closer to 12 the alternator is not charging the battery and you should have it repaired as soon as possible or the battery will go dead again.

Just to add a little to what Mulder suggested.
If your not familiar with multi meters they can be purchased at radio shack for as little as 15 dollars or so.
The best kind are auto ranging so you don't need to select voltages. Just choose DC and place red lead to the positive of the battery and the black lead to the negative and read the meter. If you get a less expensive one then set the range to greater than 15 volts before placing the leads on the battery. Also you may want to measure the battery with no other electronics running and then turn things on like head lights, AC , stereo etc and see if the charge is keeping up with the demand.
