I just bought a set of Optilux 2020 lights, they are 2 in1 driving and fog lights and I am mounting them in the grill.
The wiring diagram in the instructions show how to wire them directly to the battery, but I want to wire them to the ignition so that I don't ever have to worry about leaving them on and killing my battery.
How would I do this? I really have no idea how to modify the wiring diagram. I know that tons of people must have done this already so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Typically after market driving lights terminate in a single wire which is suppose to be connected to a positive light source typically found on american cars.. Well subaru is a switched ground system. So the only choice is to use a relay with the a wire from a head light serving as a negative trigger. So you need to learn how to wire and use a simple relay.
I am not familiar with what has to be done with those particular lights. However in a general sense
Pin 85 is from the negative pulse from the headlight. Then 12 volts to pin 86 and finally 12 volts going to the other pins that connect to the aftermarket headlight (that was looking for 12 volts). hmm..it has been a while but pretty sure thats right.

Bump
Pin 85? Pin 86? Does any one have a wiring diagram to show me? I know that I can do this, but I need detailed help!
If all else fails...would an auto accessories place install these lights if I didn't buy them from them?

OK first. How do you want them to turn on.? With a switch or have them come on with the other lights ?
Now i cannot be entirley positive unless i see the directions you have in front of you. But typically it would be "If on a switch" then cut the wire that is suppose too go to the positive of the battery and insert a switch between the two cut ends. So power comes out of the positive of the battery and goes to one side of the toggle switch. The other side of the toggle switch then goes to back to the after market light wire.
If however you want them to come on with low beams or high beams you have to wire a relay similar to this diagram.http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4ce27b3127ccea851cb90c3cb0000001610

I want them to run separately from the headlights (i.e. I want to be able to turn them on and off without the headlights being on)
Here's the link to the instructions on-line

Let me know!! Thank you so much!!!

As you probably suspected, the wiring diagram provided by Hella for the 2020 makes the light switchable regardless of whether or not the ignition key is on or off.
Assuming you have fog relay, driving relay, main switch (where you can select the driving & fogs), & wiring as shown in that diagram, the only thing you should do differently, afaik, is:
(1) Remove the white wire that is supposed to be connected to terminal #30 of the driving lamp relay. Note: not terminal #87, which should also be white according to the diagram.
(2) Connect that removed end of the white wire (--> terminal #30 above) to a +12V switched power supply. One place to tap is the wire/harness that goes to the factory stereo. For the correct pin, use a multimeter and the radio wiring diagram found at www.ravensblade-impreza.com for reference. It may be possible to find another switched +12V source that is closer to the engine bay.
good luck
