Just wondering if anyone has this info. A friend wants to wire up his PIAA driving lights to go on when he switches the stalk over to hi-beams (since he has a low beam HID kit; he doesn't have highbeams anymore).
Any ideas?
This is a Canadian model car w/ DRL.
Thanks in advance!

yep - on mine I think it was the yellow wire...

Sure but it requires the use of a simple relay. The stalk switch provides a ground and not a positive 12 volt source
that after market driving lights are looking for. So the stalk switch , through the head light wire, can provide a ground to work the coil on a relay. Once the coil on the relay is triggered then 12 volt power can be sent to the driving light.
12 volt relays can be found at any radio shack, or in your case , the best store in the world, Canadian tire.

brunetmj - Thanks for the help. Would using a relay still provide juice to the HID's to keep them on while switching on the PIAA's?
Since the RS uses a H4 light (hi/low); it switches the ground or does it switch 12V power to go between the two?

I am a little slow this morning so I am not entirley sure what the question is. The stock wiring has three wires, high beam switched ground, low beam switched ground and a common positive. Currently, if I am reading this correctly , you are using the low beam switched ground to run the HID's (low beams). I would imagine that this low beam switched ground wire is running a relay on the HID's since they require a much higher voltage than halogen based lights. So as I see it you could use the high beam switched ground as the negative trigger on a relay to run the driving lights. I would not be sure if it would be advisable to use the low beam switched ground to run an additional relay. Did this come close to answering the question?

brunetmj - The HID's are running off low-beams. Since the H4 bulb is hi/low, when the highbeams are switched on the lowbeams cut out (hence the relay on the HID's wiring harness is tapped into the hibeam ground so that they do not turn off when hi-beam is switched on.
Question now is how to get the PIAA's to turn on when the stalk on the column is switched over to highbeams?
