Which is better to get. A blue bulb/led or just a blue condom? Which will last longer and give off the best blue. I looked around but didn't really find something that said one is better over the other. Right now Im doing the HVAC and possibly the fog light switch.

just get the condom, i fell into that whole "oooh get LEDs theyre from a higher entity sent to bless your car" ..pff such a hassle with LEDs ..ESPECIALLY for crap like those controls, that are so inconsiquential.. *believe me Ive gone down the road of LEDs once.. im sure other peoples differ, but just do yourself a favor and get the condoms.. I mean honestly, when have you ever seen a bulb go out on your gauge cluster?? Just some schmucks trying to make a quick buck off their site..pawning LEDs like its sooooo much better.. ya it is in some respects but- leds dont really do crap fer yer car.. man..

For an equivalent brightness, LEDs consume significantly less power because unlike filament-based light sources (e.g. incandescent bulbs, halogen bulbs,..), light is not caused by the glow of a filament, in which most of the energy is used up to generate heat.

Having said that, I agree that for instrument lighting, as long as you stay with a low wattage bulb (like the original bulbs), getting colored covers for the bulbs is the simplest way to go. Plain LEDs need to be wired differently, and at the very least, need to be in series with a proper resistor. Practically speaking, the temperature increase due to the bulb covers shouldn't be a concern for low wattage bulbs. Also, you could change the color very easily by swapping different color covers and altering the color with permanent markers.

well i am going to say get LEDs, as i ahve done the condom thing, and they are not as good, especialy with blue, you will end up with a more teal color.

I AGREE WITH PARANOID56... I HAVE THE CONDOMS AND THEY PRODUCE A LIGHT GREEN ILLUMINATION... THEY ARE A TOTAL DISAPOINTMENT...I'LL BE IT, THEY ARE EASY TO INSTALL, BUT THE COLOR IS LESS THAN DISIRABLE... IMO...... ;)

what about a blue sharpie and then the condom? might be to dark but should be blue.
