the keyless entry in my 02 RS seems to be dead. It's not the remote- ive changed the batteries and u can see the little light come on. It wasn't all of a sudden that it stopped working either- it would still work, but i'd have to hold the button down or be really close to the car. Where is the module in the car? Any signs that it would be shot? Is this a warranty thing possibly?

Have any wires on this module been tapped in any previous modifications? I cannot recall where it is in the 02 but in the sti it is directly above the fuse box under the coin holder and next to it on the 04 RS so look around that fuse box. Just a black box with a singel connector on the side. Sometimes it's hard to see because it sits on edge. It would be nice if you knew someone nearby that could swap modules for a minute. Don't know about the warranty.

i was looking by the fusebox and saw a couple black boxes... i also saw a connector with 6-8 wires on it that wasn't plugged into anything. Now that I think about it, i did bring my car into a car audio place to have them take a look at my deck because it wasn't working...maybe they unplugged it? I guess I'll go take another look, do you know if there is a part number on the box?

I dont know the part number off hand but I would guess that is the problem. Box is about 5 inches long or so and has a singel connector on one end.

Just wanted to add a correction. On the 04 RS the keyless entry module is also above the fuse box. Been working on a lot of subarus latley and got confused.

there are also diagnostic connectors under the dash that should NOT be plugged together -- be careful on what you plug!
