i was using an 8mm wrench to turn the adjustment screw when one turn not fully locked onto the adjustment screw stripped it. Now i can't get the white little plastic screw to turn anymore. is there a way i can fix this? How else can i adjust the headlights?
I'm trying to lower the beam significantly since it is aimed way high after I adjusted the driver's side headlights to the right. It seems like when I was shifting the beam towards the right, the beam pattern was raising. Is this normal? Shouldn't it just be going to the right instead of raising? That's why right now I'm trying to lower it a lot.
any help appreciated about the stripped screw. thanks

There are two adjustment knobs one for the vertical and one for horizontal. They're both white knobs.
I don't know how fix your problem. You may have to open up your headlights. There is a post on how to convert jdm headlights to lhd on scoobymods.com.
hope that helps

Hi, I wrote the RHD to LHD conversion on Scoobymods.
If you're adjusting the left-right adjustment to the right, then I think you're seeing the step in the cutoff coming across your reference point (the tree or wall you're using to gauge height)
Imagine the
__
. . \_____
pattern (ignore the . . ) shifting to the right. When you get to step, it will look like the cutoff is getting higher.
As far as the adjustment screw, that external post is the only way unless you break the lights open. But I wouldn't do that until you had a new screw to replace it. Until then, use visegrips or something?

thanks for the reply Stanton. I actually AM going to pop my lights open because I wanted to convert the rhd to lhd and grind the mask flat. How would I go about replacing that white plastic hex nut (adjustment screw)? Can I just remove that nut when I pop the lights open and replace it?
I also stripped the vertical light adjustment screw and I tried using a Philips screwdriver to turn it. That messed up something because I popped the gear cog a little and would turn anymore with the screwdriver in it. I took the headlight out and shook it around and surely there was something rattling inside. I heard that this is pivot arm for the adjuster and it poped out of its socket or something?? Can I fix this too by just popping the lights out?
Adjusting these lights are just a pain...

Wow, you brute ;) You could probably screw these out and use the ones off your original headlights (if you have them). Steel epoxy works well for "reconstruction". As far as what popped out. I dunno. Maybe the pivot, but there should've been no force on it. The HIDs, with the adjustment motor have a socket at the other end of the shaft, but the manual adjustment is just a metal thread in a plastic fitting.
I've driven around trying to figure out if I would like a flat cutoff. I don't think I would. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't go as far as I went, but definitely a "step".
I'm also about to pull my lights apart again to flip the reflector around. It apears to throw the mass of light slightly left. It's a detail you probably don't want or need to worry about.

hey it's me again. I cracked open my headlights today and grinded the mask flat. The thing that was loose was the "leveling motor shaft" plastic clip. It popped out when I was trying to lower my beams. Now my question is, won't it just pop back out again when I try to manually lower my beams again? I know my lights will be aimed high because I grinded the shield off so I'll need to lower it. But the screw is at the point where if you turn it some more, the white plastic clip (level motor shaft thing) will pop back out. Am I doing something wrong? It doesn't seem like I can adaquetely lower my beams without having that clip pop out.

There should be more than enough range of motion to move where you need it. Rock the assembly and see what's in the way. I mean really understand what's keeping it from going further. I don't think it's the problem here, but adjusting the horizontal adjustment the "right" will give you a little more vertical room.

Alright bump from the dead. I need input on replacing the adjustment screw as I did it again on my older set of jdm lights w/ tsx's. The white little knob is just rounded now from being turned too much.
btw I have another set of unmolested jdm black chromes for sale if anybody's interested =)

and im sure im not the only person that has stripped the adjustment screw as the design of the screw has obvious flaws. why did subaru of japan have to use a weak little plastic screw when they can just use a metal screw like the usdm's. oh, and I can't turn the knob w/ a flathead or philips head. It just sort of pops and doesn't move when I turn it.
