I've done the search, and found nothing conclusive.

Does any company make a harness bar for Impreza's that bolts to the front seat shoulder belt mount?

If the answer is no, does anybody want one if I have one prototyped?

don't know how "hardcore" your car is or even what you would use your harnesses for but... If the harness were long enough you could take out the top half of the rear seat and use the Rear Strut Tower Bar as your harness bar or get a custom 6 point cage made up with the crossbar as your harness bar. Obviously the latter is quite invasive but maybe you could customize the bolt-in cage that Dante at Primm is selling????

My car is very softcore but I have my first track day coming up and I don't want to run without a harness. I was going to use the rear seatbelt anchors, but my mechanic suggested he could take a scrap of roll cage tubing, weld some plate to the ends and bolt it between the b-pillars.

Jon...I share your pain...I have tried to get them made...I have searched and searched for a harness bar...even tried to get the existing ones modified to fit...but to answer your question...No...I have had inclusive about the prospect of getting them made from Tom Richardson..but he's pretty busy too with his rear strut bar..
The only way right now to do this is the CUSTOM route...sorry...wish I more help...but I will definatly follow this thread...Thanks

Using a rear strut tower bar for a harness bar is *not* a good idea. Especially those that bolt around the shock towers via U bolts, which I for one do not want to rely on for my safety. They need to be bolted or welded to the pillars. Plus the shock towers would probably deform easier in an accident than the b pillar, especially if you hit a curb with your wheel. Jon I'd be interested in one if you liked what your guy built.

I'm using a modifed one from I/O Port, it use the shoulder harness mounts, but it sits a little high. The correct one should be on its way, its from sales@pregridmotorsports.com somebody on the board already has one and posted a picture. It looks quite good, Pregrid asks what brand of seats you have and makes it according to that.

Yeah, I definitely want a harness bar, not a harness "guide" bar.

Another, option is the bolt-in semi-cage, which uses the seatbelt strongpoints an provides some rollover protection as well as harness mounting.

Wow... those are a pretty cool solution. How easily removable are those, and would they pass muster if a class of racing required a cage? What's the cost like?

My question is .. don't you have to mount them properly to prevent your vertebrae from being compressed in the case of an accident? Forget where I heard that ... but you may want to investigate before you throw a harness bar in your car.

The whole point of a harness bar is to mount the belts so they are pulling straight back, not downward as with rear seatbelt anchors. If you look at any real roll cage, there is always a built-in harness bar directly behind the shoulders. Your lap belt (and crotch strap) keeps you DOWN, the shoulder harness keeps you BACK.
