I'm posting about two different subjects for my 02 wrx:

1. I rounded the 12mm nut that holds down the spinning wheel on the AC belt in place. It is kind of hard to get to. Do you have any recommendations on how to take off this rounded nut?

2. There is a humming noise that comes from the ac belt area. It goes up and down according to how much I press on the gas pedal. It's definitely not normal. I have the Vishnu Underdrive crank pulley.

Can anyone help?

Scott

I think you need a mechanic....

For the bolt, use a gator-grip socket or some other brand of the same concept.

Sears has bolt removal tools of a variety of types that work but not if there is a lot of torque. If the car is under power, go to a repair shop and ask to reccommend a place that is good at getting bolts out. Most shops know (and use) the local bolt extactor guru because it is worth paying for their experience (rather than learning on your own and going there by flatbed after you have messed up and broke the head off). In my town it is a welding shop that can get out anything. (I speak from experience!)
