Has anyone else noticed that none of the recent designs from FHI ever include a hood scoop, even though the B11S and the WRC3 video car are turbocharged? Is it possible that the new chief designer was given the very difficult job of fitting a bulge in the middle of the front of the hood (to accomadate the intake from the front-mounted intercooler) into a cohesive design?

Dude, he meant the sketches are old, but recent pictures (read: PHOTOS) don't resemble this old sketch!

Judging by the recent spy photos, the actual vehicle looks MUCH better! It's also in actuality more of a tall wagon while the sketch is straight-forward SUV. The closest image you can get to the actual vehicle is the old WX-01 wagon concept Subaru showed a few years back (the vehicle the 7-seater is mostly based off of). However, the new styling seems to have turned an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan from what I can see! :)

Eh let's hope so. I guess we really can't make any judgements yet (subaru seems to be good at disguising vehicles from past experience). The only worry I have is that the front will look frumpy like so many other subarus. The side profile looks really nice from what I can see though.

the grill isnt that much of a leap from the current subie look
however, it seems the grill looks a bit complex while the overall look of the vehicle looks so bland and normal ... doesnt seem to match much

Yes, the new SUV (Tribeca/Halifax/00X) is more like a tall wagon than a truck. Think Nissan Murano, not Ford Explorer. I get the feeling the new airplane nose will be the direction Subaru will take for brand identification (unless there is a huge outcry over it).

I'm not sure if FHI will do FMIC in general. Look at the one on the EVO. One hit with a parking lot curb and you're screwed. FHI seems to like TMIC's which fit very well. They are able to mount it above the trans and keep the hoodline low. Look at the new Legacy. Its scoop is more like the pre-2000 legacy scoops.

The rally car (in the game and in real life) benefits greatly from the FMIC design but they are a different animal altogether than something that will see the streets. Most street turbo Subaru's don't need an IC that big. If any of them would have it, it would be the STi. Where did they put it? TMIC.
