Hi everyone,
I was wondering if you all have a spring loosening noise when you are releasing the clutch about at the half way release point. The noise resembles the releasing of tension in a spring. I have 26k on my car right now. Is this normal?

don't have new shoes. i can replicate the sound by pushing down the clutch with my hand and releasing. the sound only comes up when releasing...not depressing the clutch.

I has some shoes that hit the brake pedal a bit and made a 'sprong' noise.....was a spring in the pedal attach assy....

Maybe you need some lube there...

hi all.

same Issue Can any one help me in this? There ia absolutely no Sound When Pressing the Clutch, However when I release the clutch, there is a Spring sound that comes out. I am pretty sure that this is Not from the Cabin. It comes from outside the car. So No clutch Switch. I have lubricated it.

Can Anybody help me with the Pictures If they have found out the issue?

To blacksuby: Fill out your profile. You are not going to get good answers (or sometimes any answers) if people don't know what you are driving. From what you are saying, if you have determined that the noise is from outside the cabin, it is possibly your throwout bearing. But because I don't know miles, year, etc. it is impossible to give you a solid answer.

I always get a squeak, when depressing and releasing the clutch pedal. It was annoying when I first got it, but Ive got used to it since then.

--- My 05WRX does the same thing. Do a search under clutch noise and there are many who are complaining of this same problem

   Wow I thought I was going crazy or just hearing things. I have the same sound in my 05 wrx and it has 46k miles. It does'nt do it all the time and I think it's just were the spring connects to the clutch pedal.

It's not just a subaru annoyance. My friend has a brand new 07 mazda miata mx-5 and his clutch creak sounds worse than mind.

Mine makes the same noise on occasion... kinda comes and goes. I just chalked it up to being an idiosyncracy of a performance car that isn't refined for comfort. My Lotus makes a LOT more noises than my STi, though! :)

Is English your second language? Just a hint: only capitalize the first word in a sentence, plus proper nouns (like names).

i have the same problem, my friend just told me to put some gear/hinge grease on the spring and it should take care of it. Just been too lazy to do so.. haha

I used some Ams Oil spray grease on the clutch spring and that ended the squeak for me. good luck to the rest of you.:)

Those who are using the grease on the clutch springs, Can you tell me where to locate the Springs and from where to get the grease?

Noise is really annoying me now......

I had the same problem and complained about it each time I took my car in for service. Each time they told me that they couldn't reproduce the noise but that they greased the pedal / spring. After this happened three times I got a survey from SOA. I told them how unhappy I was with the dealership for not taking the problem seriously. I got a call from the service manager (now bending over backwards to help). They replaced the clutch plate switch and the noise has been gone since. Hope this helps.

i had the same issue as everyone else.. i think it might be your throwout bearing either going bad or just not greased.. but when i replaced my clutch the new bearing was nice and greased up and i have yet to hear the damn annoying sound!! thank god cuz it was driving me crazy.. and the noise always seemed to be at the halfway point of either disengaging or engaging the clutch.. good luck
