Here's my little story and situation...I'm currently taking care of my friend's '04 STI because he's in Iraq. Usually, I just keep the car stored away in my garage, but I take it out every so often just to keep fluids churning....well, I've been driving it around for the past couple of days and I noticed that when I get out of the car it smells like burning oil. I don't drive like a mad man in this car because it's not my car, but I don't drive like an old man either. Is there something wrong?

Also, I noticed that when I shift gears I hear a little clink/clunk noise coming from the back. Can anybody tell me what that noise is? Is it the differential in the back? Should it be making noises like that?

I really like Subaru's, especially the STI, but I'm afraid that I don't know how to take care of it.

Please Help!

How many miles on the car?
If you are just storing the car, you are better off just leave it alone and not run it to "keep fluid churning".
I don't know how long you drive it each time you take the car out, but if you don't get it fully warmed up each time, you are doing more harm than good.

The car has 36,660 miles on it. I warm up the car everytime I take it out.
