Luke;

I know you guys did tests on the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 vs the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 in a variety of conditions, but did you do and extended mileage tests to simulate how the tire feels as the tread wears down and it's been heat cycled countless times?

I see bridgestone has a complete description of all their crafty methods to keep the tire working extremely well into its life ( http://www.bridgestonetire.com/technology/unit_aq11.asp ) but what does michelin do to keep the tire working a long time? All the stuff on michelin's site is mainly focused on the general shape and geometry of the tire not the compound so they don't really make a strong case for longevity of performance characteristics...

help me out here.

I've only driven S03's to the end of their life. They grip better and better as the tread wears down (on dry road). And they are great tires for performance! But....they ride rougher and much, much noisier as the tread wears down. Noisy to the point where it becomes pretty annoying inside the car.
