Too much to pay for a nicer interior

WRX wagon looks better, IMO

You'd think Saab could've come up with their own idea. I agree, the Subaru looks waaaayyyy better.

You won't have the ricer stigma if you own the Saab.

It really depends on your personal interests. Besides, rice is so watered down now. To each his own.

Seems weird to make it look the the wrx wagon to boost up sales. Saw one around campus. I think Saab needs something original to attract people to their cars. Ripping an idea off of another vehicle wouldn't do the job.

I think it looks nice. I like the taillights. But being a red wagon owner maybe I'm biased to these pics. It's nice, but I don't think it is worth the weight penalty and price increase. Especially since a Carazon body kit makes a new wrx look even nicer.

I think it looks a lot better than the Subaru Impreza Wagon.

There isn't a sedan?

thank you. those pictures seal the deal for me. IMO the bugeye wagons look much better than the current year wagon but just look at that front fascia! Very sharp. is it enough to justify the price, IMO NO.

Can't wait to see what 2007 brings to the table!!! I think the new (Subaru) fascia can go either way depending on the implimentation. But what do you think the new 9-2 will look like?

I wonder if I can stick that rear bumper on my 02 wagon... I love that look..

I like the looks, price is too high. I could only justify the price if it had the STi 300hp engine.

RIP Saab.

Now we need to charge GM with murder one.

you can search to see what some others have said about the 9-2x

Ehh, not yet. I think most manufacturers come out with one car that makes no damned sense. Maybe this is Saab's. But they're still alive, and hopefully won't sink at all, or at least anytime soon. I really like Saab.

Y'know, as much as the GM vs. Ford arguments can be very heated, and I try to stay neutral, I think GM has largely done a much worse job with the brands it's acquired. Ford, on the other hand, hasn't brought as much ruin to Volvo, Jaguar, etc., in my opinion.

But... maybe that's just me.

You can search for all kinds of things.:D
Sorry. :p

I think it's funny how the Saab fans are so bummed by the 9-2 not being a real Saab, but they are still loyal dispite the Borg, er, I mean GM take over.

Nah, it's not just you. GM's oversea management sucks big time. They don't distinguish foreign car makers from household appliance makers. No respect for the brand identity whatsoever. Wait, that's how they look at themselves too!

On the other hand, I think Ford has been reasonably good at managing acquired brand. Look at Mazda, Volvo and Jaguar.

Well - since Saab won't be offering a rebadged WRX as the next 9-2, it will probably be much different. They will be swapping to something built on the same platform as the Opel Astra (it will be built at their Swedish facility, which is evidently underutilized at the moment)

Is the paint on the Saab good ole Subaru paint, or is it any better?

Yeah, I have heard that, but I also have seen many places that Saab and Subaru are co-developing the 2007 model. I am not sure which to belive yet.
I guess we'll see. Is the Opel an AWD? Isn't that supposed to be the statagy for Saab(GM), meaning AWD, or was it just the entry level model to get the more youthfull customer dedicated to the brand?

The Saab 9-2X looks very nice in person, but for the money I could buy a Legacy wagon (which looks good too). Also, if I get a wagon I prefer if it has integrated roof rails.

Does anyone else here smell a potential merger in the future between Subaru and Saab? Lets face it, two niche companies, two solid and compatable philosophies, it might actually make sense!

9-2x is nice for what it is, but for the same money you can get a Legacy GT, which is just as nice, bigger, and more powerful.

There isn't a sedan?

Nope; just a wagon.

Looks-wise, that 9-2X blows a WRX wagon into the weeds. Saab devotees will pick one up if so inclined. I can't see the rest of the world coming to that car. But man, I only WISH my now-gone WRX wagon had looked that nice. I particularly like the side skirts, tail light treatment and rear bumper fascia around the tailpipe. Very nice.
