hey guys, im still debating on if i should get a 02 wrx, white, some what low mileage for 13-16k.. finance that and have high 200/low 300 dollar payments..

or if i should get an 04/05 model with factory mods for (exact price w/o negotiation (sp?)) 27,287. and the mods are Upgraded security, auto dimming mirror/compass, sti hood scoop, performance gauge pack - turbo boost, oil temp, volts. Performance cat-back-exhaust system from SPT, and short throw shifter.. what do you guys think?

i want to do mods but not heavy mods, i mostly wanna keep the car stock but want it to perform a little bit better then stock.

would getting a new one be the way to go? payments would be i think like 360 a month with a guesstamate 7.9APR..

or

just get a used (bug-eyed) wrx and just buy those add-on's as i progress with the car?

i am a freshman college student @ TVI, i dont have to pay for college cuz im on the scholarship, i'll hopefully be workin @ aol makin 750.00 for small checks (beginning of month) and 1200-1700 for the bigger checks (ending of month).. i also have to pay for insurance and gas. insurance isnt goin to be that much cuz i put it under my moms name and im a second driver. i have liab. for my 91 integra now for like 50 bucks a month..

so what do you guys think?

i'm also lookin @ the LEXUS IS300's.. but @ 28k used for an 02.. my payments were goin to be 607 a month.. + insurance..

so im so lost on what to do, i want luxury from the lexus, it has good pick up form its 215hp I6 engine.. i'd keep that stock, but i can only find an auto w/ electronic shift control (like manual) it was really nice, but the wrx is alot cheaper for the same year w/ 227hp turbo. :furious:

HELP ME GUYS!!!

The used 02 wrx would be cheaper since your tax, title, registration, and insurance would all be cheaper. I would probably go that route.

It just depends on how much you can/want to pay...

1st... call your insurance carrier and get accurate full coverage estimates.. don't go by anything you pay now.. some companies charge extra for "high horsepower, low weight" vehicles (aka the WRX).. Also, since you plan on financing your car, the lender will require you to keep full coverage on the car.. not just liability..

2nd.. do MORE research on your payments.. a loan for a $28k car @7.9% would run ~550/month for a 60-month loan (~425 for an 84-month loan) this is not considering down payment and the usual TTL fees...Going by AZ TTL.. you'd have to come up with a down payment of ~$11k total (cash + Trade-in) for a 60-month and ~$7k for an 84-month loan, if you want to stay in the $360/month range...If you can find a used '02 for 13k-16k and want payments of ~$275.. you're looking at an interest rate of ~4%, which is great!! more than likely, a used loan through your local credit union would run ~5-7% bringing your payments to ~$290.. which is still within your limits..

I would go used '02 WRX route.. you can sell your Integra for ~2k and put that towards your TTL fees and have some left over for some mods..

actually some guy wants to snatch it up for 5k.. which is what i was selling it for w/ the mod's i have on it.

and plus any money i have extra saved up, will be put down also. but isnt it 100 bucks per 1000 you put down? to lower your payments? or is it 10 to every 1000?

and i made up my mind, i am going the 02/03 route.
i want an 03 i think cuz i heard something about the transmission being worked on a bit fixing the old syncro problem. something about how you cant put the car in first while doing the smallest roll...?

That's false. If you don't abuse the tranny and syncros.

Good interest rates uses a $20 per thousand rule of thumb and very poor rates like in the teens uses $25 per thousand. Sounds to me like you're better off payment, insurance and total vehicle cost in the end, if you go with the used '02 or '03. Just be sure to have it checked out professionally before you make your final decision. Good Luck! :D Michael.
