Dan 00Maddog 10-18-2004, 08:33 PM IMO on import applications it is always best to use oem gaskets. That attitude is pretty common in the repair industry, so I doubt there are even very many aftermarket gaskets available for a wrx. Probably a water pump, valve cover, and a head gasket. You may pay more for the aftermarkets too. I know napa sells valve cover gaskets for 2.5 na motors and they are over 100 a set. Napa sells victor reinz gaskets which are inferrior to Fel-Pro, (a division of federal mogul) which can be bought at Fats. That is the only aftermarket gasket (other than high-per. or special application i.e. aftermarket exhaust) I would ever trust. I have noticed that some lower 48 stores sell genuine subaru parts for really low prices, lower than shop cost up here on a lot of things. I would start there. Why do you need a gasket kit? I hope you aren't taking that engine apart for kicks, if something leaks address it not the whole thing. It prob. has a leaky oil pump for starters, that's only $15 in gaskets. When you buy a gasket kit you get enough stuff to split the case halves, something I have never attempted, cause at that point I always installed a shortblock. Jerry yukon1 10-18-2004, 10:54 PM No I need the head gaskets, intake, and all the exhaust because i had too check the heads and valves out to make sure they werent bent from the cam gears breaking in the accident. 00Maddog 10-19-2004, 04:33 AM http://www.autopartsauthority.com/replacement/SU~2002~IMP-4WDT-001~parts.html Not sure if this is the same as stock or not, but I bet there are other good deals out there too. You don't need an entire set to r&r heads, Just buy the ones you need. It is always better to check the valves before install! good thinking. speed_freak27 10-19-2004, 05:08 AM Yukon you are in luck. I am getting ready to do a motor build and bought a gasket set from the local dealer. I have the intake and head gaskets if your interested let me know. yukon1 10-20-2004, 01:30 AM Yea im interested if the gaskets are for 03 wrx. dan speed_freak27 10-20-2004, 04:46 AM Sorry they are for an rs. |
