just got back from phoenix.......and i like it. just wondering how hot it gets and if its cooler in prescot or flagstaff. also could someone fill me in on smog emission tests. what they look for and test for.

hot..yes, and yes...and do a search for emissions stuff, its been covered many times.(might even be in the regional faq...)

your "exempt" ( I say it that way because you still have to pay the fee every year, but do not have to physically go into a testing station...) every year for a car that is <5 years old... after the 5 year mark, they do an OBD-II check and kick you out the door.. this is only in Maricopa County.. Flag and Prescott are outside the area and their are no emissions required...

phoenix hot? well its about equivalent to hell during the summer months.

prescott is cooler but can still get pretty warm in summer (nothing like phoenix though) and as for flagstaff, well lets just say not many places are better than flagstaff. summer highs = mid 80s winter averages 100+ inches of snow a year. not to mention tons of places to drive and all the outdoor stuff to do.

as for emissions, flagstaff doesn't have any emmisions testing no matter how old your car is. you never have to pay any fee or get checked. most of the more rural areas in arizona are like that.

Maricopa County (which includes all of the Phoenix Metro area) is the only place where AZ has emissions...
