The topic says it all. I got the KCA420i and an Alpine 9827.
I had the unit installed on the top din. Everything went smooth except the headunti is now recessed a bit into the DIN.

How can I make it flush?

probably need to take it out and adjust the side plates that hold it in place.

if you do change your deck placement, show some pics - i'm thinking of doing the same to mine!

Just pop it out, unscrew the unit and remount it so that it sits more flush with the dash.

where did you get that little cubby hole, im gonna be putting a in-dash monitor/dvd pretty soon, and i'm gonna need one of those....

btw do you know of a diagram, that show how to take the dash apart... i think i might try to do this my self, cause car toys wanted to charge me $150 bones to install it.

Wow that picture confused me for a second. The picture is an 05. Anyway for pre 05's just take out the two screws holding the cup holder in and pull it out. Pull off the silver trim. It is just held in with clips. Thats about it. Remove the 6 screws holding in the bracket. Unclip the black grounding clip, unplug the unit along with the antenna. The strereo and din pocket are held in with screws on the side of the bracket.

Actually, when you undo the two screws for the cupholder don't pull it all the way out. Wait till you pop the faceplate off and it will keep you from scratching up the top of the face plate with the bottom of the cupholder assembly.

The silver din pocket is part number 66128SA040 on all subaru.com It requires re-drilling a couple of holes in the stock dash but looks great when it is done.
