View Full Version : sti for parts
00Maddog 10-21-2004, 05:37 PM well I was at conti today and found out that the wrecked wrb sti was totaled, and northwest auto has aquired it. The engine is still tore down all the way to valves due to t-belt breakage, but I bet there are a lot of other good parts. It also has a dp with high flow cat that looks pretty sweet, someone better hit this stuff up. buy the whole car and we'll have the ultimate mini meet.
Jerry
AKSubie 10-21-2004, 06:20 PM Northwest auto parts suck. I despise them, they treated me like **** on the phone when I called about selling my hood to them.

Yeah Anchorage is small and everyone knows about everyones business. Was supposed to be towed to my house but gotta wait for them to throw the engine back in. Dont worry Im not gonna keep all of it, when Im ready I'll post up a part out thread. hahaha.......I called dibs on this like the day after the accident, didn't even look all that bad at first, but there was a chance, so I hopped on it. Plus Ive known the owner for quite abit.

00Maddog 10-21-2004, 11:01 PM hey mike when you say throw the motor in, i hope you're not expecting it together. It's in about a hundred pieces right now. Also i wonder why everyone at suby thought it was northwests??! I would check up on all this soon! I remember when you posted on "who was that" that you were aquiring it, but figured that was off by what I was told today.
Anyway, if you want any FREE wrenching, I.E. help installing entire sti drivetrain in your car, including abs sport brakes, I'm down. I'm sure we could work some things out with all those nice parts....like an sti motor with bent valves that needs maddog tlc...:D:D
Kiwi Fella 10-22-2004, 12:15 AM good deal for both!
OrionAK 10-22-2004, 02:06 AM Intercooler destroyed or taken? :)

Yeah my cousin and I are going to do the entire swap and felt that not having the engine in it when it's delivered would be one less thing to worry about. It's more of a learning experience for the both of us:D but I sure wouldn't mind compensating you for any engine work you do. I'd have to see the engine pieces and what work needs to be done but if worse comes to worse I'll buy brand new v8 usdm heads and shortblock and t-belt and whatever else was broken and just swap over everything that works. If you feel that you can "rebuild" it than I'll back you financially. Again I gotta see it before I decide. As for it belonging to Northwest, the original owners insurance company works in conjunction with northwest and IF the original owner didnt want to buy it back, it would be theres but the owner told the bank and insurance company that he was buying it back and had the money in his checking account ready to go.

Need Money 10-22-2004, 02:23 AM Intercooler destroyed or taken? :)
Intercooler is staying on the motor and the motor is going in a certain viper yellow wrx
OrionAK 10-22-2004, 02:30 AM You suck. :)
hirevn 10-22-2004, 02:37 AM just curious on what happened?must have been wrecked pretty damn good to be totaled.also if you have an idea of what you dont want im sure alot of us will be intrested in the left overs.
00Maddog 10-22-2004, 02:58 AM It shot under the rear of a legacy at a high rate of speed, from what I heard. cam gears broke, valves dinged. I bet sodium filled exhaust valves are expensive. No reason to replace the heads, though. I saw the tear down and all valves are organized in order of removal, pistons looked ok, gears are screwed and it may have damaged the variable exhaust timing mech. Mike you should tell them to leave the motor right where it is and I can box it up for you at conti on monday, when I resume employment. It would be a lot easier for me to reassemble it if I got to it in the condition it is right now, then after some unknowing person throws the entire valvetrain into a box and mixes everything up. Plus I will make sure nothing gets left behind:) I need an sti wing....is it damaged?:D
Need Money 10-22-2004, 03:00 AM As I told many, I will post a for sale thread for the parts I dont need/will take off my car when Im ready. I don't want to sell most of the stuff but I took out quite the loan to get this so I must make some money back. Ofcourse alaskans will get first priority on parts and I'll keep it that way for about a month. Only things that I can say that will be sold would be the f/r seats, door cards, carpet, wing/trunk, sti side skirts, intercooler sprayer kit, txs dwnpipe, utec, autometer guages/pod, and misc interior and exterior items. Basically everything controlled by the ecu is going in.
Need Money 10-22-2004, 03:10 AM I saw the sti before it went to the body shop and it didn't look that bad at all. But there was frame damage and is the only thing holding me back from repairing the frame and slapping body panels on. Estimates were like $25k plus more when everything gets torn into, obviously most of its labor. I know details on the accident but dont want to post up his business. All I have to say is that it couldve happend to anyone.
Maddog: You got Pm. I haven't seen the engine so Im not sure what's wrong but the original owner has the breakdown list of what's up.
WRX8U82 10-22-2004, 04:15 AM Unless Jerry can fix the engine like "new" which I have total faith in your work Jerry! I would go with new engine stuff, just because after all that you spent on your car, I would hate to see something go wrong!
I'm not at all critcising or hating, it's just i've been there and done that with my tranny and all. Sometimes I just kick myself and say why didnt I buy a new gear box in the beginning rather than buy used stuff and rebuild it and it just go wrong again. I hope you see what I'm trying to say.

WRXnFX 10-22-2004, 01:00 PM Damn, I was hoping no one knew about this. I'd be intersted in buying some of the stuff you don't use. Complete interior??? Tranny drivetrain, brakes, suspension. Everything but the engine....

Big-Sexy907 10-22-2004, 02:32 PM PM Sent, Are the Wheels trashed?
Need Money 10-22-2004, 02:47 PM Rain: all but one rim is in perfect condition. The other one has a couple small scratches due to a previous curbage, not due to the accident and the tires are great only 7000 miles on them but they'll be on my car for awhile since I need them to fit over the brembos.
Winslow: Complete interior is most likely be for sale except the guage cluster, ebrake, shiftknob. Debating whether I want the main dash or not. F/R windshield is also for sale for really cheap if I can take it out safely.
Yeah the original owner of the sti and I was half tempted to trade in my rex for a gc8 and swap everything in to it, but noone would buy a rex without a first gear. Plus I just got my body kit not too long ago.
KapaFool 10-22-2004, 10:00 PM Keep the gauge cluster or you will have a bigger headache when you swap the engine over. Can I have dibs on the little bits of hardware and plastic pieces.
shortfuseWRX 10-22-2004, 10:26 PM how about the shifter trim mike is that for sale and i want the seats!!!!!
let me know!!!!
sam
Need Money 10-23-2004, 04:28 AM Ive gotten a ton of interest in parts and as I've told everyone that's pm'd me Im not letting anyone call dibs on anything until I've sorted through all the parts and am ready to sell. I wanna be as fair as I can. When the time comes I'll post up the first stage of parts for sale. I feel that all the parts will be priced very fair compared to the prices within the nasioc/i-club classified section. Not ebay
Example: I've seen the v8 front and rear seats/door cards/carpet all go for $1500 easy. I'll most likely let them go for $1150
I've also gotten pm's from peeps from the lower48 and Ive told them all that Im giving alaskans first crack at the stuff I have for about a month. Ive even got Crawford Performance that wants to make a deal.
Anyways I hope you guys have some of your dividends left cuz I need money. Please only pm me questions, no more dibs.
Mike
WRXnFX 10-23-2004, 11:09 AM I guess I'll have to wait until the next totalled STi.
