View Full Version : Any idea the cost of a WRX swap totalburnout 10-25-2004, 07:36 PM Into say a '95-'96L with the cost of labor thrown in? And without labor? SWAT 10-25-2004, 07:48 PM www.i-speed.us Homemade WRX 10-27-2004, 02:27 PM also depends on the cost of the engine and other parts you are using RickInLittleElm 10-27-2004, 03:22 PM www.fi-systems.com americanyouth 10-27-2004, 05:02 PM No labor.... maybe 8-10k. Depends how much conversion pieces you buy, how cheap you get the car.... lottsa variables. Blu25RS02 10-28-2004, 02:43 AM www.LICMotorsports.com 8-10K???? no, not for a USDM...ide say $7500, which is the price I-Speed used to list on their site. $8-10K for a JDM STi conversion....thats accurate as Im doing just that, Ver. 7 into my 00 2dr RS. But by all means, check out www.LICMotorsports.com Adam, the owner and lead tech, well, I guess only tech, as its just he and his brother Noah, anyway, Adam has done all the I-Speed conversions and has now branched off and started LIC Motorsports. Awsome guy, EXCELENT work...absolutely top notch. 17 conversions and counting. totalburnout 10-28-2004, 03:09 AM I'm not seeing prices here on the sites for a USDM WRX swap. It doesnt have to be a sti swap, or anything amazing, just a WRX swap and I'd be more than content. Blu25RS02 10-28-2004, 03:16 AM Go to the project car gallery of LIC. And I guess, since Adam is listing the conversion at $8500, then that is your price...but that includes ALL parts needed, including motor. totalburnout 10-28-2004, 04:37 AM Go to the project car gallery of LIC. And I guess, since Adam is listing the conversion at $8500, then that is your price...but that includes ALL parts needed, including motor. $8500 for just the swap? I heard the swap was $2500 blacktalon606 10-28-2004, 09:59 AM Right now I'm looking at a swap for sale on the net for $3500. It says it's complete with motor, tranny, ECU, harness and exhaust. Jaxx 10-28-2004, 11:59 AM yeah those numbers are a little high severa thareds down there is a company offfering swaps for 5k complete w/ labor figure 2k for the the engine harness another 2k for every other little thing this is assuming that you use "stock" parts and don't go buy a 1500 turbo back totalburnout 10-28-2004, 01:03 PM Right now I'm looking at a swap for sale on the net for $3500. It says it's complete with motor, tranny, ECU, harness and exhaust. Thats a usdm wrx engine? not a jdm or sti swap? blah. I couldnt really find sites for swaps, everybody just basically linked project sites and such but i heard it would be about 2500 Jaxx 10-28-2004, 01:50 PM 3500 is fair w/ the tranny depending on milage prolly still 500 too high you will still have 2k worth of misc things to buy cRayZee 10-28-2004, 02:26 PM www.garagetuning.com totalburnout 10-28-2004, 05:55 PM 3500 is fair w/ the tranny depending on milage prolly still 500 too high you will still have 2k worth of misc things to buy 2k worth of misc stuff to buy? Wow. The swap doesnt come with tranny, block, harness, etc all for $2500? Too bad I'm used to hondas. Homemade WRX 10-28-2004, 05:59 PM my car and conversion, including TBE, and ACT clutch cost me just over $7k the car was $3k Blu25RS02 10-29-2004, 01:32 AM You guys do realize why LIC lists the price so high, or higher than u are finding. Its because Adam personally finds the parts and makes sure they are in perfect working order, including the engine. If they arent, he will replace them. totoherbs 10-29-2004, 04:39 AM You guys do realize why LIC lists the price so high, or higher than u are finding. If you use high level shops you will get high level parts. If you buy a $2k motor from ebay you never know what you will get. A full usdm wrx swap will cost something like $5 to 10k depending on what, where and who is doing the work. What you need to do is make a list of what you need; talk to people who have done it; make sure you have at least $2k more then what you list says you will need; have a way to get to work if the car ends up taking a few weeks/months longer then you planed. Yeah and I hear it will pass smog! totoherbs 10-29-2004, 05:15 AM Yeah and I hear it will pass smog! That has less to do with the quality of the motor and more to do with the quality of the install. Blu25RS02 10-29-2004, 04:17 PM And wiring. totalburnout 10-30-2004, 01:58 PM my car and conversion, including TBE, and ACT clutch cost me just over $7k the car was $3k damn. thanks for the info guys. totalburnout 10-30-2004, 02:00 PM Yeah and I hear it will pass smog! Any new swap should/will pass smog because the standards on that engine are the same or better than the year of the car. You're actually doing the country a favor by updating your drivetrain that has passed harder requirement for smog/emissions. Blu25RS02 10-30-2004, 04:14 PM Unless its JDM with no TGVs and less cats, but there are even ways around that. LIC Has sucessfully CA Smog Ref'ed 2 JDM motors so far, and mine will be the 3rd. But yes, you are correct totalburnout. I hope all this info helps, and good luck with your project. You will love it when you are done, I garuntee it. |
