Official Announcement: Big Meet - July 8, 01.

Hey guys, Specialty Subaru and I-Club Vancouver are proud to present the
second annual Show N Shine meet. Here's your chance to show off what
you got and drool at what you dont =) Do Not miss out on this meet. it
will be HUGE! We are expecting over 80 cars this meet. But as past shows,

we will probably have a lot more.

**I-Club Vancouver members**
- Please bring a small 2 dollar donation to cover costs of meet or some canned food for the Food Bank.

Here is a brief itinerary of events planned.


10am- New member registration
- donation and canned food collection
- parking designation


12pm - eat eat eat.. (there will be no BBQ this time, however there is a cafe that serves hot food and drink)
- car care demo (mwilke will host a brief car care demo for those interested)


1pm - West Coast Rally Association info session *NOT CONFIRMED*
(our friends at WCRA will talk a little about rallying and participation in BC and the pacific North West)
- Vancouver Chinese Motorsport Club info session
(some senior drivers/members will discuss auto-x in the lower mainland. we will also be having our very own subby only auto-x soon)


2pm - Judging of cars begins (Specialty Subaru staff will judge cars for 4 prizes and trophies)
Best Stock, Best Mod, Meet Favourite, Best New Age Impreza)
- Draw prizes (We will be raffling off some more prizes from license plates of cars)


3pm - Closing remakrs from I-Club Vancouver and Speciatly Subaru.
- Picture time! group shots.. etc.

For some strange reason, I can't load the link, so here is the map, if you can't load the page. Not really helpful, but you can have a brief idea.

Exit 22 (2nd exit right after you cross 2nd narrow bridge, go along the Mt. Seymour Prkway, turn left when you hit Mt. Seymour Road. And then you just need to drive within the speed limit all the way up til you see all the Subaru.

I strongly suggest that you bring up some mosquito repellent. Depending on the temperature of the day we may or may not have alot of bugs. It's a tough call. Also, I suggest that you bring up sun screen as well. I was out at Whidby Island on saturday hanging out with some PNW i-clubbers. I was wearing a long sleeve sweat shirt and I *STILL* got a tan through it! Pretty crazy eh? Anywayz, enjoy the day guyz and gals!

actually there are lots of ppl living around ur home area....

but the thing is u have to stay there for no matter how long we are going to stay and if we decided to leave early then u have to either follow us or get a ride back from someone else....hehe....

BCIT or Brentwood... both just as close to the freeway... guees it depends which side of the freeway you live on.

If you really want a trouble free parking lot to meet at ... the BCIT lot across from Moscrop is quite quiet, as well as the Playland Park n Ride lot (no security there).

So what's the definitive answer?

i don't think brentwood mall is even open, but i do agree that security probably won't like us. you also probably don't want the security getting burnaby RCMP's attention either. police escort to seymour is cool, but not if they're handing out tickets :)

Bender, I don't think I have enough time to make the t-shirt. But I think we can find out how many ppl would like to have a t-Shirt at the meet, then I'll go and check if I can make a silkscreen, and the t-shirt will on the way! Also it'll be a good excuse for us to have another meet to distribute the t-shirt.

Anyone know where can I make a silkscreen? I've no problem to silkscreen with the t-shirt, just have no idea where to make the screen.

Sandy, maybe you can start think of the design of the t-shirt, to keep the cost cheaper, single tone on white!!

why don't we just put a i club vancouver (small logo) on the left top in front of our chest and a "pencil" drawing on an Impreza at the back (for both new age and old age....so ppl can choose according to the one they have, or they can get both...:D

S Leung, it's good to signup anyway. I don't thnik you are going to walk there, right? So Specailty can arrange you to park in the section. Once you get there, you'll be put into section and ready for Show and Shine.

No, it shouldn't be any problems for you to leave early. Just make sure you let us know so we don't park other cars in front of you or anything like that. Too bad you can't stay for the whole thing though! Ahh, such is life! See you guyz on Sunday!

With all the respect of being a new member, I just washed my car, clayed, and put sealant and wax on my car, spent whole 7 hours today just doing that! Now all I could hope for is good weather and no bird bombs! See you guys Sunday!

Eric, i think most people uses the Mother's clay bar. i think it basically "sands" down the paint a bit to get rid of the swirl marks. correct me if i'm wrong guys!

oh...that's clear coat u meant??? ;) i don't want to hurt the clear coat though....:( that's why i don't want any polishing...:D

i might get a 2000 sand paper to take off some of the dirt on the clear coat and then use machine polish it again later....trying to get the painter to teach how now....hehe....

5 Zigen: I guess your talking about wet sanding.. Get a piece of 2000 grit sand paper ( don't get any thing high or lower, also the sandpaper must be ment for wet sanding or it will fall apart!) Get a bucket of water and add some soap, now soak the sandpaper in the water for about 5-10 min to get it soft and flexable. Now fold the sandpaper to about the size of your palm. Wet the car with the soapy water and slowly and softly run the sand paper across the place that needs to be sanded. Remember the key is to always wash down the area with water after a few run with the sand paper. If you don't the paint that you sanded off will "ball up" on the sand paper and will act as a lower grit (more ruff) sandpaper causing deep scratches. Then you have to buff off the scratches with a high speed polisher. But I wouldn't do this unless you have paint runs or heavy under/over spray or your touching up and needed to remove the extra touch up paint.

Your best bet to remove ruff car surface is to use a clay bar..

I use the Mother's clay bar, I did a research on the web for a bit and figured Mother's clay bar would be the best for us Canadians, unless you wouldn't mind mail order the products from the States. It was very effective. I never knew how important is the waxing and all the claying, sealant stuffs. But I followed a link through the dress up forum and start reading about the webpages. I have always beem puzzling about the swirl marks on my hood and one of the posts caught my attention. I always do the washing myself but on occasions I also use the touchless car washes at the gas stations (which the post pointed out that even the wash was touchless, the chemical can cause swirl marks!). After a few visits to the dealership, I looked at my hood and figured there are lots and lots of circular swirl marks on my hood! I guess I will never let them wash my car again. After spending all those 7 hours, I found out these stuffs do work some wonders, swirl marks are gone, minor scratches get smaller and of course large ones are still there! I didn't do the touch up before I do the claying but my time was limited coz I only started after work. I do plan to drive my car tomorrow but I realized I don't want to do the washing and waxing untill the last minutes. I wouldn't mind getting some dust on my car, it's my daily driver. I just want it to look at little cleaner on Sunday! I still got to see this under the sun tomorrow to justify how good is all these hours of hard labour! I'll let you guys know tomorrow.
