View Full Version : RallyX schedule for the next couple months (read if you are interested):
eurojax 10-27-2004, 07:15 AM Apparently this is tentative, but:
November 13th
January 15th
February 27th
April 2nd
Myself and Jake went to the meeting a couple weeks ago. It was pretty cool, but one of the things people stressed was lack of participants.
It seems that subaru's are the perfect vehicle for this, and AKIC should have a lot bigger of a showing at them. I'm still the only AKIC'r with a Subaru that's ever registered. :(
Is anyone contimplating racing?
I know a couple people have shown interest, but have fears of messing up their car. Just remember, out of the 14 or so that raced on the last one, all of us drove home in the same car we arrived with. (Except for Bill Demming who trailers his car). I'm not saying bad things won't happen, but if you go conservatively, chances are they won't happen.
So, like I said, I'd reallllly like to see this program gain interest, especially from AKIC, since most of you are my friends.
Anyway, post up any questions or concerns you have about rallycrossing, and I'll hopefully be able to answer it. I'm no pro nor seasoned veteran, but I can explain my experience with the first one.

JordyB 10-27-2004, 08:21 AM I'll be down for some winter racing action in the scort...will have to de-tune tho or be aloud to run studs...
hirevn 10-27-2004, 12:41 PM id like some more info.i may be intrested when the ground is frozen and less chance for rock damage.ive been waiting for a oppertunity to drive the car for whats its been built for.
SQUAD_907 10-27-2004, 01:07 PM i was gonna do the one in oct but i was cancealed....
cooparu 10-27-2004, 01:20 PM 1 - Location(s)

3 - Link to rules and regulations

memo79 10-27-2004, 02:07 PM 4 - Does the winner get kisses from european ladies, and a humongous champagne bottle to spray on everyone else?
AKSubie 10-27-2004, 02:10 PM LOL.... I like number 4
1 - Locations are To Be Determined at a later date, although there is usually a hint floating about prior to the event that they are looking at <blank> for the event.
2 & 3 can be found at alaskascca.com price I believe is/was around $30 non-member (I forgot, watched never ran yet) and they have a snippet or 2 of rules on there, and I believe in the forums area under rally. for "official rules" go to scca.org, shoudl be up there somewhere.
My brother is always wanting to drive my car, maybe the next RallyX I can switch with him and run his OB hehehehe
Kiwi Fella 10-27-2004, 02:28 PM The only thing holding me back would be swapping my studs off!
Otherwise I will be there!
RallyX13 10-27-2004, 02:38 PM I think the main reason they will not get a lot of participants is due to the no studs rule. I know most of us run studs in the winter, and I would rather not drive all the way out to the valley on my summer high-performance rubber. Changing tires outside in the middle of winter would be no fun either.
I understand the concerns for not wanting to tear up the location, but do not think that would be as much of an issue in winter. If that rule changes then I will definately try to make it to at least one of these events.
MGAMAN 10-27-2004, 04:10 PM hey im all for it, ive wanted to do it since before it started, and had to miss out the first one, and hte second one got canceled, so i will happily make the next but no studs=no go
eurojax 10-27-2004, 04:16 PM They are in fact letting DOT-rated/approved studs for winter races. No screws.
More later, I'm in class :p
Kiwi Fella 10-27-2004, 04:21 PM In that case I am there, it will be nice to do some racing during the colder months
AKSubie 10-27-2004, 05:59 PM If it is true I can run my studs I am all for trying it once or twice. But agree with RallyX13 regarding the tire issues.
00Maddog 10-27-2004, 06:08 PM if not I have a set of tires on rims that can be loaners.
eurojax 10-27-2004, 11:30 PM This is all I can remember from the meeting, I'm still a noob so if Jake or Cheryl reads this, please correct me where I'm wrong.
I'll be down for some winter racing action in the scort...will have to de-tune tho or be aloud to run studs...
I do beleive we are going with 4 classes. 4WD stock, 4wd rally prep'd, 2WD stock, 2wd rally prep'd. I think Jake can correct me where I'm wrong.

1. Palmer fairgrounds, SCCA is looking for places around anchorage since it's a little closer. If you have any ideas contact Cheryl or post here.
2. I do beleive it's $30 for SCCA registered people if they pay early, $40 if they don't. For non-SCCA registered people it's $40 if you register early, $50 if you don't.
3. I don't think the SCCA has an AK set of rules published yet. At the meeting we incorporated several different Regional areas' rules. I'll send them an e-mail about this.
4. I wish :(
I think the main reason they will not get a lot of participants is due to the no studs rule. Like in my other reply, I do beleive we are going to allow studded tires during the months that it is allowed by the State of Alaska. (Sept 31st - May 31st)??? Something like that.
No screws, nothing like that. Only DOT approved studded tires.
i was gonna do the one in oct but i was cancealed....
I think it's a good idea to register online or let Cheryl or any of the other rally people know that you are for sure going to come. Registering online gives them a set number to look at. Last time only 4 people registered online.
hirevn 10-28-2004, 01:24 AM just keep us posted on the date and location and im there.
rallygoddess 10-28-2004, 01:48 AM We are pleased to announce that we will be an "official" Fur Rondy Event in 2005! The RondyCross event will be on Sunday, February 27th, and will be at the Old Native Hospital site off of 3rd Avenue between Eagle and Ingra. Be sure to share this information with your friends--that THEY can be a part of Anchorage's winter carnival and be a part of history during the 70th Fur Rondy!
Our program currently has four events planned for its first winter season. These events will ONLY come to fruition with "active" participation (in the form of pre-registrations), enthusiasts joining the Sports Car Club of America and entering the RallyCross Safety Steward program, and of course, the one we have even less control of--weather!
Registration is up at myautoevents.com for the Winter Woolies RallyCross, and for those of you that have registered on that site before--you're set. When passing this information on to friends, be sure you 'caution' that they'll have to get a password from myautoevents.com before registering online! This thought just crossed my mind--the link will take you to the main page and you MAY be able to download the form and send it in WITHOUT having to sign-in on the site? This link should get you to the event site: http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEventDetail.Show?psevent_id=2331
Something different for this event--the registration form has been uploaded to myautoevents.com under the "Event Flyer or Entry Form" section as a link from the main page. Download, fillout the information (for one or more events), enclose payment and get yours IN THE MAIL TODAY--remember, the 3rd of November postmark gets you a $10 discount for Winter Woolies!
So, plan for three trips north to the Alaska State Fairgrounds and the RondyCross, of course, will be in Anchorage.
Safe travels,
Stewards of Rally
