I am swapping to AWD and am searching for a gas tank that will work. Does anyone know if i can use one from a legacy. any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't see why you couldn't use from a legacy. They should be similar if not the same. You may want to check with the dealer on the part #'s for the tanks to see if they are interchangeable

I got a very clean 95L AWD tank for $125 from a local yard. I dunno if a Legacy tank will fit. It's pretty body-specific under there.

To myknowledge they are the same tank if you use one from an early 90's legacy. Talk to Mike Shields at SPD Tuning He can tell you what will and will not work. He has the part numbers as well. www.spdusa.com

I put a 99 forester tank onto my 96 L.

2000 Forester tank went into mine.

this is kind of common sense, but make sure you keep the mileage down as far as possible. alot of people say the subaru tanks hold up well, but the truth is they will rust out if given enough time (mine did). I'm not sure which will fit your application, but there were many many different types of tanks used in subarus over the years for specific reasons. GL.

AFAIK, nearly all 1st gen legacy parts are interchangable w/ Impreza ones.

For example, my car has '91 Legacy fender liners and a '92 Legacy TB to MAF tube.

In 99 they changed the TB on the impreza to include the IAC valve.....just an fyi.

But yeah...a lot of parts are swappable.

I put a 1990 Legacy tank in my 93 Impreza.
