OK well it looks like there is something wrong with my 4-speed electronic auto tranny and If repairs are in for the tranny, I will be considering doing an Auto to manual swap. How hard is this?? If I plan on swapping a manual in, I'm going to start looking for parts cars with a 2.5 And throw a new motor in as well  . I have seen guys do it on other threads w/ foresters, but they never give good details on how hard it was to do. I have never swapped a motor or tranny out before, but I have done engine work on my other cars in the past so I'm not car-dumb. So any info would be great thanks.

friend had a manual put in his svx, which will be more than converting an impreza
but itwas around 3000 labor plus a 5mt (used 1.8l for like 300)
a lot of custom fitting had to be done
in your car everything will have holes and bolt right up to where it should be, would be much less expensive
but still probably not worth keeping the car

I'm not really sure on costs, but if you plan to keep your existing setup I'd probably just find a reputible tranny shop, and have it fixed ... If you plan to swap out your engine though, sky's the limit ... Go for the whole deal if you plan to swap ... It's gonna cost ya though ...
