View Full Version : Do I still need my stock ECU if I use an Aft. Mkt. one for swap? linux>windows 10-28-2004, 11:19 PM discuss... totoherbs 10-29-2004, 04:39 AM Wouldnt that depend on what aftermarket ecu? And what swap... Jaxx 10-29-2004, 12:15 PM agreed if you use a tec 2/3 and do pems (shiv's parrellel enginge managment system) yes if yo go full standalone nope.. Homemade WRX 10-29-2004, 12:59 PM like they said it all depends on what you are using...if you are going link 44s or something along those lines no, but if you are doing a utec or accessport then yes linux>windows 10-29-2004, 02:47 PM Well, i'd like to drop a WRX or STi motor in, and have it finished relitivly quickly, I heard the wiring harness was a bitch, and I figure I can wire an after marketECU faster and easier totoherbs 10-30-2004, 12:23 PM Well, i'd like to drop a WRX or STi motor in, and have it finished relitivly quickly, I heard the wiring harness was a bitch, and I figure I can wire an after marketECU faster and easier Running a stand alone in your daily driver IMO is a no no. It makes like a pian in the ass. The wiring may take a bit longer, but its so much more worth it then trying to deal with a link or paying for a hydra. HeMan1320 10-30-2004, 03:14 PM with the v5/6 and some below you can use the PowerFC standalone. Which is completely plug n play. Then all you'd need is the hand commander and a decent tuner to get it running the way you want it. Then later take it to a real excel dealer. Jaxx 10-30-2004, 05:49 PM toto hit the nail on the head i have a tec and it rips right along .. but its not a daily driver if i had to do it again i would start with a factory ecu and buld from there linux>windows 10-30-2004, 06:32 PM so, i'm stuck ripping my car apart eh |
