what is top speed on the re-92 tires....or what eva the generic tire that comes with the 2002 impreza 2.5RS...
-the reason why I ask-

I was comming home last night and along side of me was a golf hachback and well it was decked out. and all the way home he was keeping up to me and then I was keeping up to him and as the story goes I look down at the speedodomiter and I was going about 113ish for a few miles at least. I freaked out slowed down and made sure to slow down to about 50 and roll the car to the next lightwhich conviently was turning red.....when i get there I see the hachback infront of me and his rear tire was smoking and smelled like melted rubber...did what i think happen to him? he torch his tires and go over the friction limit?....now I want to know mine for the future because I don't wanna get into his situation or even have it blow out and I crash.

ok thanks

don't worry, your car cannot go fast enough to max out the RE-92's. I've done 120, and I know others have done 130 on them.

and considering the RS redlines in 5th at just a hair over 140, you won't hit that stock, and they may even be able to handle that. They tires are VR rated...hence up to 149 mph.

i wouldnt be so concerned about how fast they can go, i'd be worried about how fast they can stop you when you are going that fast....

When going over the tires rated speed limit, you will feel them wobble and the car will vibrate with intensity. I maxed out some 'H' rated Invicta tires on a minivan @ 115mph.

I would have to say 25mph,
any more and your risking serious mental stress leading to massive road rage and possible death.....!!!

He probably skidded to a stop instead of actually stopping. No ABS = less weight, ya know.

I went 120mph in my stockers once and only once...1000miles later my right rear tire blew up at 80mph comming back down the east coast (GA -> CT, then CT->GA)...

I have never had any problems with over heating the tires. I have about 9k on my MY01 RS and I have red lined it in 5th a few times. I was even pulled over one of those times by a State Trooper and had to jam the brakes on. So I know they can take some heavy breaking also after the case of being rode that hard. The tires look like there in good shape still. I just hope next time I have brake pads and some rotor left when I need to slow.

youre very lucky they didnt blow...imo

I think as long as they have a HIGH psi of inflation I think they are sorta ok....just get new tires when they start to go bald...Driving those tires bald is very very bad.

My friends eagle talon was ok at driving with bald tires...these re-92s on our RS's dont do good at all bald.

I was gonna say 10 or 15 mph, but hey, I guess 25 mph is daring and adventurous :P
