For the New Year, I am looking to swap out my JDM EJ20 block and swap in a USDM STI 2.5L with will bolt back up to my AVCS head and auto transmission without problem, from what I am told from APS and Crawford Performance.

Here is my deal.

I have a MAP sensor. So no problems there with the 500cc increase.

I will be running 12.1:1 compression or up to 13.1:1 with fuel mixing for 94+ octane. No problems there.

I will be running on 205/50/15 RA1's or 225/45/17 Potenza RE55S (way sticker than the RA1's)

Right now, handbraking and normal braking is the holy brail on STI braided lines, STI Pads (going to Fedora 2500) and 205/50/15 RA1's

Now here is my dilemma. I know that the diff on the RS2.5 is the R160. Now since I have AVCS like the Japanese 2.5, I will be getting anyway around 238+N*m and well over 200ps, maybe 220+ps, since a EJ20 w/ AVCS does 190ps @ 11.5:1 compression. My version of the same engine w/ 10.8:1 does 155ps and the EJ254 does it @ 170ps @ 10.7:1 compression

Stock
Max.power (Net), kw(PS)/rpm 155 ps (114.00 kw) [152.88 HP] / 6400 rpm
Max.torque(Net), N*m(kg*m)/rpm 20.0 kg*m (196.13 N*m) [144.64 ft-lb] / 3200 rpm

After (specs from Legacy B4 which will the same setting, that also includes AVCS)
Engine model EJ25
Max.power (Net), kw(PS)/rpm 170 ps (125.04 kw) (167.67hp)/ 6000 rpm
Max.torque(Net), N*m(kg*m)/rpm 24.3 kg*m (238.30 N*m) (175.74lb/ft) / 2800 rpm
Compression ratio 10.7

Now, will my R160 diff be able to handle this extra HP? I do know that there are NA with 200+hp @ the flywheel with 151whp. How are there holding up?

Later on, I will be turbocharging with STI forge pistons, so I know that I would need the hold 6MT setup, but for right now, have anyone break their tranny and diff with power over 150whp and at torque over 230N*m?

west_minist - If you want an awesome N/A motor you should contact Tech Works Engineering: www.techworkseng.com I'm sure they'll have something that'll make at least the power your looking for.

I am in contact with them right now on cam issues.

I would like a bigger cam for my AVCS head, but it looking like that is not possible.

Do anyone know if the AVCS cams are like the VVT-I in toyota own?
