View Full Version : Accessport STi 2004 91 Stage 1: Knock wolverine 11-01-2004, 01:18 PM I installed AP 91 Stage 1, v.104, yesterday. I noticed immediate smoothness in power delivery. However, today, in 58degree temperature, I got 4 episodes of knock (monitored via knocklink). I normally never get knocks at this kind of temperature before. Has anyone experienced this? Car: 2004 STi, all stock, with dealer's ping fix. Max boost monitored: 17.3 psi. Jon [in CT] 11-01-2004, 02:34 PM Car: 2004 STi, all stock, with dealer's ping fix.It's more accurate to say your STi had the Subaru ping fix. Your Accessport reflash may have regressed the ping fix. By that I mean the Accessport 91 Stage 1, v.104 reflash might have been developed using an STi ECU that didn't have the Subaru ping fix installed. This is pretty easy to check, though, if you have an OBD-II scan tool handy. Just pull the ECU's callibration ID (CID). If it's A2ZJ700J or higher, then you still have the ping fix. wolverine 11-01-2004, 02:38 PM OK. I will check. But, at any rate, has anyone experienced knock AFTER using the AP? What's your remedy? iorikun 11-01-2004, 02:49 PM I would say your target boost is a bit high for stage 1 with no mods. I would try the LWG version. From my limited experience with the AP+Knock link, you might get a few hits on the Knocklink as the ECU learns the car. If it is just a flicker and only once in a while I would not be too concerned. If you get knock under the terms above then there is another issue, be it AP, Knocklink, gas, plugs, air filter, and so many more. TMS wolverine 11-01-2004, 04:06 PM iroikun: Target boost specified by Cobbs is 16.5 +/- .5 psi... 17.3 is not that much over. TMS: Knocklink lights up the whole way! I have experienced at around 4k rpm, boost around 12.5 psi, WOT. Again, only at WOT. The thing is I did not get knock that bad before the AP. hondaeater69 11-01-2004, 05:30 PM call cobb.
