just looking to find out how many of you are using un-spung discs with your stock tranny and havent chewed through any gears yet, also would like to know what kind of power level your at. i am fully aware that while someone may be doing it, it may not work in my car but if a few people are doing it then ill probably end up going that route myself. ive destroyed a clutchmasters stage 3 in less then 5000 miles and ive just recently begun to wear out there stage 4 in less then 5000 miles aswell. all the clutches ive found that claim to handle higher power seem to be un-sprung. i do plan on upgrading my gears one day, but in the mean time i just want to push my stock as far as itll go.

no info?? i know that everyones driving is different so its really kind of a dumb question to ask, but maybe someone can at least let me know how much harder the engagement is. perferably from a still sprung clutch to an un-sprung, im not really interested in hearing the difference from stock.

thanx, jay

Un sprung clutches don't so much eat up gears as they do the bearings. Gear life will be somewhat accelerated, however it's not an issue between like "spring clutch I don't break gears, unsprung clutch I will break gears". The damper springs only soak up a small amount of minor vibration, not violent shocks. If you are driving your car in situations where the extra like 1/4" of drivetrain slop is something you notice that you just can't live with, then by all means get an un-sprung clutch. However on anything even closely resembling a street car go with the sprung version hands down.

as far as leting the clutch smoothly engage goes, i got quite good at it with my stage4 and im just curious if this causes the life of the disc to decrease subtantialy, or is side steping requried(not that its going to be done at all, i do want my tranny to last as long as possible).

i dont mind the sport feel, i drive a big sloppy van all day with work so my car is just my toy. the less it feels like a family car the more i like it.
