I know I should have researched more, and I know I should go to the Cobb board (i will), but:
Are the Cobb maps that are being uploaded into ECU's (for a 2002 WRX, by example), written using EcuTek software? If so, is it fair to say that the setup of the software that Ecutek has, allows for exactly 2 maps to coexist, the toggling being accomplished with the WOT+defrost? When you upload, you must upload kits of 2 maps or can upload only one?
If it is Ecutek, then Delta dash should work, no?
Also, if there was to be a similarity between maps and mp3, being that people download them and then "play them". Is there a tool to "rip"? I am not talking about programing a map by writing code for it, but for instance share a map that you only have available on your ECU.
Here is an example: You have a Prodrive Stage III. Is there a way to take it off the ECU and send it to a different ECU with accessport?
Also, is EcuTek considered "machinecode" or is it recompiled?

Cobb and Ecutek technologies aren't compatible. I don't know where you got that impression but it's dead wrong. They do similar things, but they're completely proprietary according to their developers. You can however, use Delta Dash to datalog with AccessECU technology but you cannot use the Delta Dash's user tuning features with Cobbs ECU.

I beleive Cobb uses accessecu technology, NOT ecutek. You can run two maps at a time with the AP, base and real time, you use the ap to chose the map, i'm not sure if ecutek uses the same base/real time to toggle, or if it's two base or two real.

you can share maps that have been created for differenet setups between users with the AP. The maps for the ap are just files that are downloaded like you said, so you would just attach the file in an email, and the other user can save it, load it into his AP and flash his ecu with it.

not sure about ur your other questions.

Thank you guys for explaining.

Supermarkus: The compatibillity with Delta Dash gave me the idea, but I see now that I am wrong.

Hondaeater69: What I know from ECUTEk page is that they allow 2 maps. The difference I see from looking at the cobb page is that the cobb programer stores itself 10 maps and to change between maps you have to have the programmer physically connected to OBD2 port, and shift maps. The ECUTEk thing talks about 2 maps existing already in the ECU and being toggled bu WOT+ defroster button. I understand your comment regarding base and real maps, ECUTEK's page is being vague, talking about "2 performance maps".

In regards to maps, thank you for clarifying, but check this out:

What if one was to have a custom map, say a map like Prodrive (now I think that it's not correct to say that because Prodrive would be written in Ecutek not in accessecu) or a map that includes TGV delete or something rarely found (you guys know better), and that was obtained from a "regular" map, by tuning with dyno time. Now the only place where one has this map, is on the ECU. So you want to help a friend.
Question is: Can you hook up the Cobb programer, RETREIVE this map, bring it to your PC and then e-mail it to someone? Let's say that this map was nowhere to be found online and you MUST take it off your ECU, ok?

In regards to the last comment: either both ecutek and accessecu are programing languages that write lines and then re-compile them into the factory code, or maybe one of the two actually IS the factory code.

If the ONLY place this map exists is on the ECU, then I don't believe the AP has the ability to pull it off the ECU. Or at least I never noted the APs ability to do that. The AccessPort is primarily a storage/sending device, I'm pretty sure the only way to put new maps on it is through your computer. You definitely want to check with Cobb on this though. When I had an AP, I never noted an option to send a map from the ECU to the AP directly. Cobb has mentioned that he is able to pull custom maps off ECUs flashed with AccessECU, but of course, he has the full tuning suite to work with.
