Does anybody know of a route to Vegas that bypasses Grand Ave.? I drive it every year and every year I hit every light on that road. I'm coming from I-10 and Elliot. Suggestions are appreciated.

101 to I-17 North, exit Carefree Hwy, West bound and it will take you away.... :)

You could go the long way to vegas via I-17 to flagstaff then take i-40 from there.

I take the 303 north instead of the 101... you run right into the tail-end of Grand Ave. (after all the lights) and it's smooth sailing from there...take the route through Bullhead City instead of the Hoover dam route.. much nicer and quicker IMO...

AzSandSlinger -
Hoover dam route used to be quicker because it saved like 80 miles or something like that but now with the road blocks for terorists and such you are probably right.

that and the fact that there are more passing opportunities the other way.. I took the Hoover route a few times and it seems like EVERY time I get to the final 10 miles or so, there is always a slow-ass vehicle...

It goes, I-17 to Carefree Hwy-74, West to 60 near Morristown but well North of all the Grand Ave traffic. Turn Right on 60 and it'll take you through Wickenburg, a little slow through there but then you hang a right in downtown Wickenburg to catch 93 North which runs through the desert all the way to I-40. I-40 West to Kingman exit for 93 North again but this does take you through the road blocks for anti-terrorism and through the construction on the Hoover Dam bypass, I had no problem with it last month but I can see where you might if you get behind a slow poke. There's one more turn in Boulder City but it's clearly marked to Las Vegas. Good Luck!
