Today a fellow nasioc member and I installed autometer cobalt series gauges in my car, Boost, EGT, and air/fuel. AND ALL THREE ARENT WORKING PROPERLY. Boost gauge works fine until high boost, then it will zero it self out (recaliberate itself) to where my peak boost was. (It's hard to explain) Say I hit 10psi in first, when i let off the throttle to shift into second the needle doesnt drop back into vacuum, it stay at 10psi, when I get back on the throttle, the needle start to move from 10psi. so on and so on. finally my needle pinned itself and I cant get it back to 0. Any ideas on what going on here?? Second my air/fuel gauge doesnt go anywhere past stoich, even at full throttle, usually just flucuates between lean and stoich, but remains at stoich while driving. Any ideas on why this is happening?? and third my EGT gauge does its sweep when I turn it on, goes from 0 all the way to like the max and doesnt return, just sits at the max point. Everything is lighting up like it should, but just not working properly, and help on these issues would be very grateful! thanks!

Gerald

maybe it could be the gauges themselves.

Did you buy these new or used?
Sounds like the boost gauge is NG- does it return to 0 when the car is turned off? If it stays stuck at some other reading I'd say the gauge is hosed mechanically.
The A/F gauge, assuming it's the type that taps the rear 02, is never going to give any useful readings and would be best swapped out for something more useful. The only truly accurate A/F gauges are those which use their own dedicated wideband 02.
The EGT might be a bad or disconnected temp probe, can't say for sure without seeing it.

Thats exactly what my EGT did without the probe connected (haven't drilled/tapped for it yet) until I pulled the power on it.

Sounds to me like it does that as a way of telling you that the sender is not connected. ?

i didnt use the probe that the egt gauge came with, (kinda looked like an "L" , i guess this is supposed to tapped into the exhaust system) instead they sold me another egt sensor that I tapped into the 3rd cylinder, and wired it up to the gauge.

Are you sure that the probe you used is compatible with that gauge? They are not all interchangeable.

Bad ground maybe? Might want to double/triple check the wiring to make sure nothing is crossed/messed up.
