Ok I saw that the APS Tumbler Delete System provides for auxillary injectors so that you can have two sets of injectors running. The APS accepts bosch style injectors. I don't know if it's possible but wouldn't it be cool if you use these auxillary injectors for water/meth injection. You could have total control over the wi.

I'm not a WI pro, but I'm pretty sure those injectors would act as cylinder fire extinguishers. WI is actually a very, very small amount and to do what you are asking would require the worlds lowest flowing injector. I could be wrong though.

 if i saw a subaru engine that actually required that much fuel i would be very very pleased to see that beast.

I had the same thought, I have the APS parts and researched it quite a bit. I went all the way down to tapping the TGV delete for the aquamist nozzles.

The problem is it needs more distance from the valve. Just get the charged performence coupler and call it a day

The boys at NACA were running half as much water as fuel without any trouble. It's just a LOT harder to ignite, so you need either a) a smaller plug gap, or b) a higher energy ignition charge.

To inject a water/meth mixture you'd probably need to replace the standard rubber seals with teflon seals though, or use methanol injectors.

Water may not burn, but neither does any of the fuel beyond a 14.7:1 A/F ratio ... and the difference between 14.7:1 and 11:1 is substantial.

Also, you'd be "pioneering new frontier" as it were, because I don't know many people who have used fuel injectors to inject the water/meth mixture.

I think the major problem is that even with methanol injectors (like MSD) they still would corrode unless flushed out with gas. The meth injectors would work the best. The idea is still cool. I wouldn't think you would be overwhelming the fuel mixture with injection if you used smaller injectors and kept the pulse widths to a minimum, keeping overall water/fuel mixture to about 25% of fuel.

And with a 50/50 meth/water mixture only half of what you're injecting is water, so you don't need to feel as tentative with the quantity.

Standard fuel injectiors should "survive" for a while as meth/water injectors as long as you don't go above 50/50 meth/water. There's as much as 30% or more methanol in pumpgas, and your injectors are designed to handle that. (Though the gasoline cleans it to some extent.)

I went over this idea with an engineer recently. He said teflon seals, teflon-lined-braided-lines, and a methanol fuel pump with a 316L stainless (possibly teflon coated) tank and you should be set for quite a while even with a set of stock injectors.

If you wanted, you could look into the Flex-fuel vehicles being produced by GM (Subaru might even have some). Some applications have large injectors for use with E85. And I think there is applications for South America that operate on 100% alcohol fuels. Also you can use either straight ethanol or denatured alcohol with nearly the same results as methanol, without the corrosion issues or need for teflon. As far as the direct port injection, keep in mind that it takes a certain amount of time to absorb some of the heat from the intake charge. It might be wise to study/research a little bit about injector placement distance from the valve. An injector 8" away from the valve might have more charge cooling benefit than one 2" away simply cause it has more time before it hits the chamber. HTH's -Chuck
