Tried to change our the headlight bulb of my 04 Sti. Canadian, H1 bulb.

The spring retainer was very tight and I used a screw driver to press and pry it out..

The bulb connector is on so tight I could not pull it off for fear of cracking the bulb.

Anyone has some tips for me?

thanks.

To get the connector out, grab onto the wide, circular base and wiggle the connector until it comes out. If you are afraid of cracking the bulb then you are definitely doing something wrong - you should never, ever touch the glass of the a bulb with your bare hands.

Thanks Slowpoke.

No, I did not grab the glass part of the bulb. Was trying to dislodge the black connector with the bulh still spring-clipped in the housing.

That black female connector from the harness is very tightly plugged onto the bulb male. I wriggled & wriggled and the whole bulb just moves too much for comfort thus I was afraid I might just break it. And the negative connector is right on top so I could not really grab the bulb round metal base while bulb is still in the housing.

Looks like I shall have to take the bulb out and pry the connector off.

Seems my cars have very `secure' electrical connectors for the lights. Last time I tried to unplug the rear centre brake light it was stuck tight and even the dealer tech could only get it off prying with screw driver.

Cheers..
