This IS NOT a question about how to find the green connectors! So no flaming please :)

I have a new AP, and when i found my green connectors on my 2004 STi, they were already connected. I am the only owner, and have never touched the connectors before. Connecting the connectors puts the system into test mode, allowing the uploading of maps etc. Instructions say to disconnet the connectors before driving.

Question: What is test mode...and I have been giving up some oommpphh because I've been driving in test mode this whole time? Should i disconect them and drive the car until I install the AP?

I believe test mode is for ECU diagnostics. I doubt you've been giving up any "oommpphh". I also don't think you'll need to disconnect/reconnect in order to install the AP, just skip that "connect the green connectors" step. Don't forget to disconnect them though before loading a realtime map.

Leave them connected to load your base map. Once your base map is loaded disconnect them and leave them disconnected until you change your base map again.

i have an '03 wrx and my green test mode connectors under the dash came connected. however, my car still could not be reflashed. in some cars, there is another set of green connectors under the plastic door sill on the passenger side. i'm not talking about the green fuel pump connectors either.
