I am getting 2500-3000 revs immediately on start-up sometimes more than not in my 99 L coupe. If I shut the car down and start it back up within a couple (10-15 minutes) it will start fine. If I blurp the throttle quickly it will fall to about 600-800 rpm and idel fine. This has caused a CEL when it revs to 3k on start up, and will idle roughly if not stall. If I reset the ECU it is fine. I had to reset it to make it home from the desolete places I am when it happens. I have had two CEL thrown since I owned it about 2k ago. It currently has 65k on it.

Is this a TPS problem? O2 sensor problem?
All maintenance is up to par with the Maintenance log. Running low grade fuel, but put in a fuel system cleaner at 60k maintenance with the old fuel filter, then replaced it.

What CEL are you getting? I got an idle control error of some sort the other day, and mine's been doing the super high idle thing in some of these colder mornings.

Would the CEL still be able to be pulled if I reset the ECU?

it's normal behavior upon starting your car for it to idle high. that said, it should NOT be hitting 2500 -3000 rpms.

highest my OBS (MY03) ever idles is about 1500 at start up. it steadily reduces the idle until the car is at normal operating temps. if you blip the throttle, it will idle normally.

sounds like there's a problem... i'd start with the idle air control.

Even when starting my car after sitting all night in -40 to -50 degree temps it has never idled over 2000.
