OK guys, I had a 02 WRX, wich I converted the front end to a 04 STI. The conversion included steering rack, engine crossmember, etc. I also have a JDM 6mt, and just installed the engine last night.

I found out about the starter issue, and will deal with it later tonight. However, one thing I noticed when cleaning up is that the engine sits a lot higher than it used to. I put the hood back on, without screws... (just presented it) and looked from the grill area, and noticed the top part of the intake manifold is only about an inch from touching the hood.

I don't think this is normal. I checked the new sti group-n mounts used, and everything seems normal. On a side note... I had to lift the tranny a bit so the pitch rod would line-up, then lower the tranny again.

Any suggestions/ideas will be appreciated.

Maybe you need a new trans mount to go with the new motor mounts. If the trans mount was "sagging" it would tilt the front of the motor upwards. Or you could just "shim" the trans mount. ;)

LVSubaru:

Thanks for the advise, although I found that a few weeks ago. Yes, that was the "solution".

was the sti engine cross member a necessity for your swap?

I've heard both yes and no and now I'm confused.

STi engine mounts causes the engine to sit 1/2 - 1/2 inch higer. I can compress WRX motor mounts with my hand. My APS BOV hits the hood. I had to cearance the hood. same on every STi swap I have seen with APS BOV where group-n mounts were used. I have the group-n tranny mounts too.

Engine cross member not necessary as far as I know. I am waiting for the 07 metal to do the front end conversion. ;)
