owner of 1.6ts in south-east asia. heard from a local forum that one member here has mod his 1.6ts from 95bhp to ~190bhp w/o force induction, mods include piston/camshafts/add CAI. since turbos is illegal here....considering this option.

any1 has good ideas wht to recommend for these engine dress-up?

down here, turbos taboo, caught by traffic police, $500 fine straightaway. sick countries!

so whoever in this forum quotes that he can increase from 95 to 190 is not possible.

what kind of gains can be squeezed by mod pistons/cam/CAI?

any1 here has done n test it before?

a gain of 30-50bhp is already zoom zoom for my tiny muny ts.

I doubt your average police officer would be able to recognize a turbo under your car. Are superchargers legal? Nitrous?
I would be *VERY* surprized if you could even hit 100hp/l. Very few engines do that and most of them are modern, high reving, highly advanced (Vtec, Vanos, etc). I think for 10 000 dollars you could stroke the engine, use high comp. pistons, port & polish heads, use high lift cams, heavy duty springs, titanium retainers, stand alone, ecu, etc... ANd maybe get 160 - 170HP out of a low life poor street performance engine. THen you'd realize that you could make much more than that for much less with an engine swap and feel very stupid...
