View Full Version : Front passenger fender work...

Ok, I got in an accident in March of 2000. I was on a road trip and was about 1500 miles out of my home town. So I had it fixed at a place near where I was staying at my destination. The front bumber and front passenger fender were replaced along with the windshield. (I hit two reflector posts in the middle of Wyoming in a winter storm. Those two little things cost my insurance company and I a bit over 5g) So now my ire. My front right fender shows a small (1-2mm) gap in between the end of the fender and the start of the door. (i.e. it's about 1-2mm from being flush with the door) So that's annoying. Now the passenger door squeaks a bit when it is opened. So the first part is I need to know how hard it would be (or how expensive) to take the fender off and try to mount it correctly, if, indeed, this is even possible. Coulder there be something wrong with the fender mounting points? When I push on the side of the fender I can fairly easily push it the couple mils to get it back into position, it just won't stay that way. Anyways, if someone with experience could assess the situation for me and advise me on this I would be greatly appreciative. Second, my windshield, as I discovered to my dismay this Spring, leaks water into the cabin. It trickles in down past the passenger A-pillar (on the outside of it, on the plastic) and down into the footwell for the passenger. I didn't realize what was happening until I was driving for a few hours in a rainstorm and discovered that the passenger floor was flooded. (Thank god it didn't short out the ECU) I have recently moved to within a few hours of the shop that did the 'work' (and I use that term loosely) Anyways, I've already talked to them some and I know I can bring my car up there and have them and a rep from my insurance company look at it. I just want it to be an open and shut case. I don't want to have to haggle or threaten to try to get it done. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

-Brian

Brian the best u can do is get your insurance rep to help out with this the body shop dose,nt want bad vibes with the insurance brecause they want to do the work for them.I work in a body shop in sth fl and we do what they want, most of the time we do a little extra to keep the customer happy i:e dents on other panels even doing a full paint job thats so we get the job.Your panels should line up pefectly and its not much to make it right good luck JULIAN

One more thing your window is leeking that means that it needs to be taken out and re-sealed.

Thanks a lot for your comments. I'll just take it up there and have the insurance rep look at it then. I just want this behind me. Thanks again,
