I am getting ready to do methanol-water injection as the next step in the search for more WHP on pump gas.

I have read much of the aqua-mist forum .

http://www.aquamist.co.uk/phpBB2/index.php

It is clear you want to inject after the intercooler and before the throttle plate.

A bunch of people are doing pre-turbo injection . It makes sense it is like a cool moist day . I worry about the impact on the compressor blades life- anyone have experiance with preturbo injection ?

Thanks Charlie

Umm, I would go with alcohol injection. Me and about 20 other guys in Anchorage, AK all went in on a group buy from SMC on there WRX kit. The kit works fine and it added some real WHP. I guess if you wanted to, you can buy the aquamist kit and instead of putting water, just add alcohol.

Depending on my settings, I can be running at 100 octane at 16/17psi.

Check out SMC's website:

how does that kit work? any issues? how do you have it set up? i.e. it kicks on at 12 psi, and the pump kicks on at low speed, then as the boost goes up it gradually speeds up until you are at max boost? how controllable is it?

You cannot use any Alcohol other than Methanol in the Aquamist setup or it will corrode the seals.

Alcohol injection works fine, but for the same amount of fluid a mixture of water/methanol will have a greater effect on octane. Water is also cheaper than alcohol.

Either way though. The damage to the compressor wheel is long-term. By the time you have any appreciable damage it will be time for a normal rebuild.

Hi Adrian

So you are saying the corrosion/erosion of the compressor wheel is not too great ? Have you been running a system with a jet before the compressor ? If so for how long and what percentage of the water goes through the compressor ?

Thanks Charlie
