I've done some searchs and I have come to find that nobody likes JC Sports. I want a bolt on turbo kit, and the JCS one looks the best. But I really don't want any of the problems that I have read about. Is there kit a good one and they just have bad customer service??? Is there kit worth the hassle, or are there better turbo kits out there??? Anyone running this kit please let me know. Or any other good bolt on turbo kit. Thanks.......

If you want a good reliable turbo kit go to www.cobbtuning.com .

Read this (http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22441&perpage=25&pagenumber=1)

Tuthfully, I don't think anyone is doing a bolt-on kit that you can a) get and b) you would want to do business with them at this point.

Maybe B-Spec can get a kit to you after you talk to them, but it will be a custom job, not off the shelf.

There are more than a handful of good folks who will install one for you, though.

Is the JCS kit worth it??? Is it a good kit???

Ethan, he only asked about good ones.

But anyway - LVSUBARU:

People who have installed JCS kits on their cars have been very pleased with the performance. There has been some grumbling about fit and finish with their group buy kits, but otherwise, folks like it.

The question is are you close enough to JCS to see them personally? The states are big and square out there - that could be a real long haul.

Cause if you can't see them, you'll get crappy service.

Well I live in Las Vegas, NV, so I'm looking at getting it shipped to me. I'm thinking that with the choices I have, I just might deal with the B.S. and get the JCS kit. At least I'll be expecting it!!!

The B.S. I mean................:D

I own a JCS turbo it is an older model a little less refined, but nonetheless good... I have had it for 2 years now... its.. been good... except for my friend's stupidity (just venting ignore that)

yes it is completly bolt on... but... badger them for instructions... phone them... they are quite friendly actually... and have helped me very much... but of course I'm JCS canada's greatest customer (Right Jack!)?? heh... would recommend the kit but double check everything...

Hok

Edit: but as others have wisely told you... learn all you can about tuning and turbos and car management... this is more important than a turbo kit...

LVSubaru,

You want to know where you can get the absolute best turbo kit? Go to your logo performance shop that is pretty turbo savy. Get them to custom build you one. It will probably be cheaper and the fitment and service will be 100% better than a mail-order kit. You live in Las Vegas, I would figure there would have to be at least a few performance shops that really know what they are doing.

Check the Links for Forced Air Tech. Only about 5 hours away from you in Arizona. I have their kit, as do several other Arizonan's and its great. Your close enough to drive down and have it installed.

I'm an auto tech for Mercedes, so I can, and would like to install my own kit. The JCS turbo kit also seems like the best value, money wise. So far I think I'm goona save my pennies for there kit..........Thanks

I run the JC Sports turbo kit, and it is very good. JCS is very busy, and so their customer service unfortunately suffers. However, I have also read here before that ASR and Ludespeed have not delivered kits on time either. In reality, with any kit there will be a wait to get it all in and complete. You can also contact rallispec but they only sell kits they install I am told. I don't know if COBB and ISR have a full bolt on kit or just upgrade kits right now. Forced Air in Airzona have a kit, and Vishnuperformance will have a Minnam kit available soon.

You can read about mine by searching for posts by me, and looking at the mymods page at www.ImprezaRS.com and you can search the links pages there for the word "turbo", for any of the names I mentioned above, or you can sort the links categories by "forced induction".

PS: You don't have to badger JCS for instructions - I wrote the instruction manual for them and it can be downloaded off the mymods page of www.ImprezaRS.com with photos and all steps fully documented.

The are two changes in their kit since I did the instructions - (1) The redesigned up pipe now relocated the turbo inlet which interferes with the power steering lines, which either must be bent out of the way or require their $150 braided steel power steering lines (2) The oil return line to the oil pan is relocated to not squeeze between the motor mount and exhaust manifold, it now goes between the motor mount and the motor for a more direct route that doesn't get heated by the header. I upgraded to the new oil pan on my car when a friend pushed the car off the jack when changing tires and crushed the old oil pan.

Larry forgot to mention that they are also too busy to be honest to their customers, too.

Hey LVSUBARU.
I just moved to Vegas and absolutly plan to get my hands on a turbo kit. I still haven't settled on which kit, but it will happen. I just MUST have 250hp you understand. :) Perhaps we can pool our resources and come up with a good solution. And hey, even start a LV I-Club chapter.

I haven't seen many at all. I've only been here a short time though. I've yet to see a WRX. and I've only seen a couple of 2.5RSs. I think it will be a pretty small i-club chapter.

Sounds like JcSports' logo...

Sad to say its the truth, I cant even get a badge for my car within 2months!, and then they tell me they cant get it so they will credit my card for the charge...well where is that? I have been waiting for about 2 weeks...

JC Sports is the only company sizable enough to have done significant R&D on the Impreza.

Unfortunately, all that research has forced out whatever social competence that they had at one point, and thus, no one there has the ability to deal with customers honestly and promptly. Far be it from me to tell you to ignore someone else's opinion, but anyone in Colorado who reccomends JC Sports for out of state customers is not being honest with you. JC Sports has excellent relations with the local enthusiasts, but it's not worth the hassle to buy from them otherwise.

The reason I originally sought out Tom Coleman from Ludespeed to build a set of turbo kits is because I thought that we should all have a viable alternative to dealing with ineptitude. Yeah, the kits shipped late, but Tom was pretty honest and thorough the entire time and he didn't rip anyone off. Best of all, the prices were the lowest ever for a 2.5RS turbo kit-without using an undersized less-than-rebuilt Legacy turbocharger.

I would suggest that you be patient. ASR hasn't really been able to get on its feet yet. Rallispec hasn't really marketed its very expensive kit either, and several other vendors have plans for forced induction as well. Tom at Ludespeed should have two kits finished in the next month or two which will be in stock before he takes orders...the way it should be. :)
