I'm trying to find a HU for my girlfriend for Xmas, I've narrowed it down to
Pioneer DEH P4600MP, JVC G800, Alpine (i think it was 9825).
What do you guys think, and keep in mind it's for her 04 echo hatch?

If you could step up to the Alpine 9827, I think that takes my vote. Look at www.ikesound.com for a good price maybe. Otherwise either the 9825 or Pio are good.

My Order would be
1. Alpine
2. Pioneer
3. Not a JVC

Thanks for the advice.
I'm leaning more towards the Pioneer because I heard good things about it, plus it for an ECHO so no need for the best system. I don't want it to get stolen!!
If anyone owns the Pioneer how do you like it??

Hey Rex
i have the Pioneer DEH P4500MP...basically the older version of yours, and I like it very much. Along with new speakers in my Subie, I'm really enjoying this setup....
I used to have an older ALpine HU in my Mustang but I think I like the Pioneer better. THis may be comparing apples to bananas though...
I'd say go with what you like... you won't regret the Pio though

Toys: Thanks for your feedback. I was actually looking at that model first, but after a little research I found the 4600. The only difference between the two I think is just the button layout.
One question though I've heard that the MP3 quality is not that good, is it true!??

go with the alpine, there is something about the internal DSP that they use that makes all speakers including stock sound great, Ive owned 3 alpines the oldest one being 7 years old and it is still in one of my cars playing cds now. I have also used pioneer and kenwood stuff, neither comes close to the quality of alpine. no question. just thought i would offer my $.02
I have the deh-p4600mp in my car, and really like it. It has mp3 support, which is something over the alpine, unless you step up to the 9827. My brother had an alpine cda-7894, and it was pretty good, but after a year or so it stopped working. I've only had my pioneer for a couple weeks, so I don't know anything about their lifespan. I think the alpine looks better, but it's also more expensive. At ikesound.com, the pioneer is $135, and the 9825 is 165. If you can, get the 9827, but if not the pioneer is still a great choice.
